    Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

    2005 GT3 MSRP 108k

    Included In Deal:

    (All tequipment OEM porsche parts)
    GT3 Seats
    Rollbar
    6 Point Harness
    Fire Extinguisher
    Free Installation

Total Discount Value To Me: $7000+ USD

as far as i know, this is the biggest discount for a GT3 ever. much less a new one 2005 that just landed.

i figured, since i was going to install these things anyway, why not have the dealer throw them in, since the savings to me is the same whether cash or in parts.

originally planned to take delivery in two days, but i decided to wait for all these parts to get installed, so ugh, might take awhile...

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

    Congrats What colour is it?

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

    BLACK!

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

    Congratulations!

But one question: Do you think that GT3 and TT Cab is a good combo? Personally, I would never combine these two cars as they are somehow similar. I can still recall that you intended to buy a Ferrari (360/360CS). What did make you change your mind? I mean, a 360CS and a TT would have been an ideal combo!

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

i tangoed with the idea of buying a 360CS, but i was met with hostility quite alot of negative comments from the f-car crowd when i went over to their forum and asked about the car.

since i wanted to buy a NEW stradale last month, i was met with many private offers from people to buy their cars off of them for insane premiums, 50k++, and when i kindly declined, they began spewing typical insecure crap on the forums.

this really turned me off, and even though i found a new one in florida as well as a method of going around ferrari's policy of dealership territory, i decided against buying it.

in the end, i turned down the idea of the 360cs for a few reasons, the hostility i was met with at the f-chat forum being on of the smaller ones.

i intend to drive this car 15k+ a year, with many trackdays in between, and for the price difference, i get 95% of the performance and save 100k, enough money for the car's lifetime of maintinence/consumables and trackdays.

the GT3 will be a trackday car and fun canyon carver. the turbo S will be for sunny days and touring. daily driving will be split between them as appropriate, my mother gets either the boxster or the m3, and one must be traded to make garage space.

my perfect garage, to each his own.

C'mon Moogle. Do the GT3-RS - Why compromise!!

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

i can't, its not availible in the USA!, besides i think the decals/etc are a bit gaudy

im getting full clubsport kit installed in the GT3, so it should be close enough for trackday purposes.

Congrats I look forward to the pics.

Does a GT3 not originally come with GT3 seats?

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

    @Darren

that would be an enthusiastic HELL NO
i keep in a place i got in greenwich, much nicer backroads, and a quick commute into the city

    @JP66

the GT3 comes with sports seats, this is in the USA, perhaps in other countries it comes with GT3 seats, or the GT3 seats are a factory option, however in the USA, it is neither included nor an option, but availible in the tequipment catalog.. must be the USA laws.

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

    Congrats... nice collection of cars

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

    Moogle,

    TTcab+GT3+BoxterS+M3=CGT?

    Really happy for you, man!

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

thanks alot lev!, i'm almost to the CGT

i might have to to trade one or both of my current 2 cars (m3/boxster S) simply because there is not enough space to keep them all

i would love to "have my cake and eat it too" but winter is coming, and it would break my heart to leave one of these babies outside with the SUVs which we already neglect...

i'm sure the current cars will be soon forgotten whether or not i trade them.

    ahhh decisions decisions

    cheers!

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

Moogle - you are sitting on a lot of depreciation there. Didn't consider a low-priced used GT-2? Prices on these have collapsed in the UK to nearly new GT-3 levels. Nice trackcar if you don't have to pay RRP.

JasonC, you're right as far as the MkI's are concerned but the MkII's are few and far between as yet. Looking forward to pics of your new baby when it arrives

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

Me too. Apparently there was some stuff up with the factory meaning I can't yet collect the car. Required another letter to PCGB. A little annoying as we aren't buying Vauxhalls here...

Moogle is still odds-on to get his before me...My car has to cross the factory, his has to cross the atlantic - which should get there first.....?

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

this is just me, i don't buy used cars, something about knowing where its been...

and i think the GT2 is overpriced compared to the GT3, hence my decision , plus with the GT3 , i would feel its more tossable, even though at 100k , its still steep for a trackday mistress., however, to be honest, compared to the GT2, for its purpose, it is the biggest bargain in porsche's lineup

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

Agree if you are talking about a new car. GT2 new price + massive depreciation vs GT3/GT3RS just doesn't stack up. Throwing a Pounds130K car around a track containing drivers of varying abilities must take some confidence!

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

I have a question, is the GT3 Clubsport a North American option now?

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

Moogle, you told us the GT3 is black. Are you thinking of the GT3 RS spoiler? I saw pics of a black GT3 with RS spoiler (i think it was cargraphic) and it looked really awesome... very special. Looking forward to seeing pics of your car, black GT3's are rare, and VERY beautiful!

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

Congrats Moogle, nice pair of cars you end up black is the best color for the GT3

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

i saw the black GT3 you are talkin aobut, it belongs to scott, who also happens to own one of the most awesome garages (the building) in the world.

sooner or later i may go with the RS wing, it looks nice, i may have to give some closer looks at it, mabye see it in person.

even though i know it surely performs, it looks a bit rice

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

    Dude, that is so cool!

As an owner of an '04 tt cab, can't wait to read your opinion of the two cars.

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

i would be glad to accomodate that request!

looks like i will pickup on November 12th (GT3) and november (20~) turbo.

my dealer understimated the time it would take to get the clubsport parts... i was supposed to take delivery today (nov 5th)

oh well, as they say, good things come to those who wait

i got the dealer to throw in the fire extinguisher, (which i forgot about) because of this little delay ! hahaha

Re: Just closed negotiations for a 2005 GT3

What is your approach to get that much off MSRP?

well i have a great relationship with the dealer.

i even have a TT-S on order with them, that is on the boat.

i decided i wanted to get the BEST of the 9x6 gerneation in my garage, so as you can see, im buying up the last remaining 'top models'

that said, its important to find a delaer that is about business, no BS. most p-car dealers laugh when you mention discount, don't let that discourage you about the market, this is a buyers market.

move onto the next dealer, or go out of state. there are great deals to be had.
