OMG, this thing is sooo ugly.

Just look at the rear, unbelievable.

If this is the future of Aston Martin, the future doesn‘t look bright.

Agree. The previous generation of Aston-Martins were achingly beautiful. The current crop is subpar, at best, and less desirable even if the overall car is improved.

Yup this looks very bad, even feels dated already.
I personally like the design of the vantage, and the new mid engines cars (Valhalla, Vanquish, Valkyrie) are looking superb. But this is just horrid.

However, it looks incredible compared with the new Tesla pickup.

Well next to that monstrosity this is a runway model.

I am really a big SUV fan, I like SUVs, always did. This thing is just ugly, I would never get one. For me, Aston Martin was always building beautiful and timeless designed cars but this "thing" is a monstrosity nobody really asked for.

Seems to me that if you replace Aston Martin with Porsche, in your comment above, people were saying identical things about the first Cayenne. The other parallel of course is that like with the DBX, the Cayenne was sold as a necessary line, whose profits were required to fund future development of the more classic Porsches.

There is a big different though at the time Porsche was selling a good number of 911's and making profit. The Cayenne came on top. Aston Martin is already struggling. The DB 11 and Vantage is not really selling well. I am not sure the DBX will help Aston Martin to survive.

Don’t think it looks too bad actually, especially with a deep gloss from a heavy metallic paint. Don’t completely agree with the trade off around the C pillar of “design” over visibility....

I agree...the 955 (first Cayenne) was ugly. I hated the design. There is a big difference to the Aston Martin SUV though: The first 955 Cayenne Turbo was ahead of its time, it was the most powerful and fastest SUV available and with Porsche qualities when it comes to steering/chassis feel. Unique!

I switched from a ML55 AMG, at that time the performance SUV on the market, to the Cayenne Turbo. Actually, I switched from the ML55 to the E55 because there was no "better" SUV available and then got rid of the E55 after only six months because it wasn't spacious enough for our little family, so we got ourselves the Cayenne Turbo.

The only reason I got the Cayenne Turbo was performance and drive feel in such a spacious package. Nothing else.

Even got the powerkit (from 450 to 500 hp, new front brakes) upgrade retrofitted, very unique thing at that time.

The Aston Martin looks ugly but doesn't offer anything the competition doesn't offer. This is the problem here. There is nothing special about this AM, other than its look. Smiley

Agreed, even if I still don't understand why Audi just didn't "electrify" the Q8, which would have made much more sense in my opinion. The Q8 is, in my opinion, the most beautiful SUV on the market. With the exception of the Urus maybe.

ok don’t ask. Went in to my local dealer to just look at the new DBX. Ended up getting this red beauty....

pick it up Saturday. Having a James bond moment obviously. I resisted the Mclaren 600lt in the process. I know crazy. More to come.

What a beauty !!
IMO Aston is probably the brand that’s currently going through the biggest revival in the entire car industry. While everyone is pivoting to electric AM is focusing on expansion and performance. And I for one like the cars they’re putting out Smiley I really hope that the new mid engined range can make them competitive and keeps them in the game.

the problem with Aston is their cars are not really into one market. it is a mix of GT and sportscar where they are not sporty (apart the look) and they are not very GT (lack of convenience for usage). the SUVs is probably there to keep them afloat but it is a huge bet. they will need to provide ''high tech'' engines to stay alive such as the others (hybrids and EV)

the general trend is to move these tankers into that direction even if it not to our liking.,,

Aston Martin is in (deep) financial poo right now. Could become a Canadian (billionaire Lawrence Stroll) or a Chinese/Indian (investors) company soon. Smiley I am not surprised, they make very nice cars but A. they are way too heavy and B. overpriced (for the performance).

I have seen the real thing, fit and finish, material usage has no peers. This puts the Bentayga to shame. Heck it even looks better inside and out. The only other SUV that can top the DBX is the Cullinan but that's another couple price bracket up.

interior finish is top notch but that's not making everything.

It's actually a GREAT thing the DBX don't have the stupid touch screen. They have a better human interface for automobile usage in reality. The driver can place his hand on the control 'knob', input stuff at his leisure when safe to do so, and it only take glances to see where he needs to go in the interface.

RWS is sort of a thing Aston missed out, but none of their cars ever had such a thing, and they don't quite have the money to do one, forgivable. Soft closing door, well that's just a useless option, who doesn't like slamming a car door to get a satisfying thump!! Especially on really well made cars. I never got tire of listening to the solid thump from my G-wagon, or the rifling bolt sound of the doors locking and unlocking.
