Awesome, congratulations. Never thought you would be into vintage cars, always saw you as someone enjoying the latest and greatest.

    Curious about your impressions!

Re: Something new in my garage

    Is that a 204PS 911SC ?

I'm interested did you used to own one of these 30 years ago and want to "re discover" what you remembered or is this your first foray into the older stuff ?

Re: Something new in my garage

The car has a perfect history and is in perfect condition (1-). All papers and documents from the first day up today. Even the salesman calculations and all prospects are presented. All parts are original and from that car, matching numbers, even first floor mats - all is 35 years old. Incredible - like new.

This car has 3.2 l engine and 231 hp.

The first owner changed the order and Porsche informed that there will be a delay  (I have the original letter from Porsche)  and for the delay, she got the new engine. It is a 911 SC with 3.2 engine. Very rare.

30 Years ago I did not have such a car. I was at that time very young and did not have money for anything.

Magnus Walker has signed the car. The car is also mentioned in some publications.

Re: Something new in my garage

Congrats Aldo, what a beauty ! I'm in no way into old cars, always preferred the latest and greatest, but last Saturday my instructor tried to talk me into getting an old race car and I'm tempted. He calls this "analog driving" and claims that it is way more fun.

Re: Something new in my garage

Try one first and don't rush. "Analogue" driving is a nice thing, for a couple of moments but if you don't have various other cars (not worrying about you, you do), this can be a problem. I had a friend buying an old 911 (I even think it was the SC) many years ago and he loved it for a couple of weeks but it was his only weekend toy and he got bored fast.

At current prices, I would be careful with such toys, unless you really really want them. Smiley

Also, I hate to say this but "old" cars aren't very safe. Just imagine a modern SUV hitting you in such a car... Smiley

I know, I know...but we have families, responsibilities, one reason I dialed back on certain activities but of course every person is different and there is also a thing called midlife crisis when men tend to do stupid things, not only with cars. Smiley

Long story short: To enjoy a classic car, you really have to be into it. This is something which needs a lot of thought and consideration, unless you have money to burn. Don't let others talk you into it, it needs to come from your desires and curiosity.

I am pretty sure that Adnan's choice wasn't a sudden and impulsive buy, at least I hope so.

Wow, that is really interesting and a great story, can you imagine Porsche doing that now days - not a chance way too organised and strict.

Beautiful and very interesting piece .   Personally I am not a fan of the wing on the non Turbo cars , but I would close an eye on this piece because of all the rest .  I am looking forward to the read about your ownership experience . You might catch the bug for the older models .

I am looking since a few month for a 76 or 77 Carrera 3.0   but it is very hard to find a decent piece .

    Would also consider a 964 Turbo , a 1975 2.7 Carrera , or a 964 RS .

    Not sure about a 2.4 S ...... ????

Prices are a still a bit crazy at the moment but the market is slowing down .

Re: Something new in my garage

I am living very near to Porsche. So you have friends or family members working there.

I have personally very good and tight connections to P. I will get a 20% discount on all classics parts. I hope that the costs of ownership will stay reasonable.

The price and the development of the future price are not so important. I do not buy cars or watches to get in future more money. It is okay if the cost of ownership stays low.

Re: Something new in my garage

Costs of ownership of my 964 have been high , but it has 215'000 km and I drive it about 6 month a year .

Just spend 3.5 k the other day for a few new repairs . Parts are expensive .

On your pristine model , it should be alright , except for maybe for all plastics , rubber and joints bits .

maybe you want to contact early911s....they have an impressive inventory of cars and are very reliable people to deal with. I am in no way affiliated but just astounded by what they do and how they do it.

The combination of the non-Kat 231hp engine and the 915 gear box is just perfection Smiley Also, the red interior is an eye candy. Please post some pics of the interior Smiley
