    Porsche wheel thief's

    Some guy had his HRE's stolen .. Sad..

    " I live in a condo with 'secured' parking.
    happened two nights ago, but i was so sad, i couldn't bring myself to post about it.

    it rained heavily that night, my neighbor said that the car was fine at 1130pm when she saw it.

    she came knocking at 6am to let me know that the wheels were missing.

    i came down to the garage to see this.
    i had the wheel locks too.

    the bastards didn't even put it on blocks!
    resting on its rotors.

    no body damage that i can discern...
    i just feel so violated!!!!

    figure, i'm single, no kids or wife, so all i need is a car and secured parking...

    didn't think i have to get a house already!

    i think my next mod will be a house with a garage.... "

    Unless these low lifes are going to use the wheels themselves, they will probably sell them. No honest P-car owner (or reseller) should buy them without detailed knowledge of their origin - but I guess this is whisful thinking.

    BTW, I would go after who is responsible for security in your building.

    Wishfull thinking I'm afraid. The "take-off" market is huge in the USA.

    However, one idea would be to put a label on the inside of the rims with the VIN of the car on it. The thief will not dismount the tyres. That would at least be a mechanism for identifying them.

    Great idea, but useless until the tires are changed; it might be a little late to catch the crooks. Why not engrave the inside lip of each wheel with the VIN? And then a reseller could refuse to accept the wheels if it were scratched away. A refinisher could make the wheels whole again before resale from a legitimate owner.
