Thats why Manthey-Racing can't keep up with the demand from GCC countries to their water tanksindecision

About 100 GT2RS delivered here in UAE. This system is just crap. You can’t drive on normal roads with our summer without emptying the tank. I can’t wait to see the guys trying to push on track days with 20L of distilled water sitting on the pit. I don’t know by what you are impressed but frankly this is typical cheap engineering. We can start talking thermodynamics all day long if you like...

Smiley You actually confirmed what I am trying to explain all along but don't expect me to tell you "hey, Mr. XYZ from the XYZ department at XYZ at Porsche told me that because of XYZ reasons and a XYZ decision, certain XYZ parts had to be used for XYZ reasons because... Smiley

There is a reason I never opted for the GT2 RS and I almost ordered the car (first for someone else, then I had plans to keep it). It is a fantastic car but certainly not Porsche's best and/or most proud work. Smiley

Someone pls help me. As far as I can work out the Porsche family essentially controls the entire VW group. And the family is routed in engineering. Why do they put up with this VW nonsense?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Sounds more like a last minute specification change to provide a higher horsepower number than the original product request.  Therefore, a bandaid was needed to maintain the horsepower rating under adverse conditions.  Given that the 991 is on the production phase out, Porsche couldn’t redesign the engine to meet the new specifications.  While a bit sloppy, the motivation is understood.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

There is only one motivation there, $$$$$$$.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Porsche's operating profit margins (~17%) are publicly disclosed, as are Ferrari's (~24%)

Lambo's operating profits (or losses) are hidden inside the Audi disclosure

Don't know if McLaren's profitability (or lack thereof) is disclosed

Doubt any manufacturer can continue to engineer and build latest-technology, high-quality products if not competitively profitable, to attract & retain shareholders, to survive as a business

Given performance cars are essentially mass-produced luxury/consumer products, interesting may be the comparable operating profit margins (rough nos. from last CY/FY) of some indirect competitors for shareholders and consumer spending:

    LVMH 21%

    Hermes 34%

    AAPL 27%

It is also common knowledge on the Street that for companies like Porsche the runout models at the end of the platform production run, such as the GTx variants, are the most profitable.   That doesn’t decrease desirable among the customer base.

Without profitability future investment is made more difficult.

Mmm not quite. Amazon ring a bell?

Every company executive is trying to prop their stock price up one way or the other as long at it stays legal. It can by by maximizing profits but that’s not the only way. Prospects of growth does the same. Tesla needs a high stock price to fund their growth. They are selling investors a “dream”, a project, and clearly they have been geniuses at it looking at the market cap.

Porsche on the other hand is an ultra luxury company that has huge profit margins because they want to sell the “best” products on the market. Same as LV or Hermes. Using a gimmick like water spraying to increase hp because they got caught loosing at the hp game is well beneath the pedestal they are on.

no WLTP on the 2RS. the homologation was still based on the NEDC. GT2RS was presented on the end of 2017 and was on the road beginning of 2018. WLTP was compulsory from 1st Sept 2018. GT2RS European cars were all delivered before that date. Smiley

Hmm sorry, Bezos did't act like Elon. Elon went much much lower to inflate the stock price artificially.

Ad Elon wishes his Tesla stock is valued like Amazon, but it's too bad it's only a car maker stock, not a tech stock nor internet retail stock.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Elon is a nut case and he pushed the stock inflating rhetoric beyond the legal limit and got slapped on the hand for it, twice.

Yet the $40bio market cap is here...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

So my GT2RS is down for the count.

The original factory water tank had a faulty level sensor, it was replaced when it came back to Canada. Porsche sent a new tank assembly but it would seems like that new tank's outlet is of a smaller diameter than the pipe.

When pushed, the water leaks, my front trunk is soaked after every session.

Went back to dealership to get it fixed. A 3rd tank arrived and is doing the exactly the same thing.

Seems like Porsche got a back batch of water tanks right now.

The leak only appears when the car is pushed and water is needed, so for 95% of the GT2RS out there, they won't eve noticed even if they had a replacement tank.

Bummer. Was planning to take the car back to the track in a week or so.

Oh well at least my Panamera Turbo S will be here soon. Maybe I will track that one instead. Or the 918.
