Staying with arctic silver (I think)

Following yet another visit to the ever-helpful and remarkably impartial Chapelgate we now have my final spec until it changes :-

    Boxster "S" manual
    arctic silver
    ocean blue full leather
    metropole blue soft top
    autodim mirrors and rain sensor
    climate control a/c
    heated seats
    sports seats (not adaptive)
    sports steering wheel
    Bose sound inc. wind deflector
    6 cd player
    PCM including navigation
    bi-xenon lighting
    19" Carrera s wheels
    coloured wheel centres
rear section of centre console in arctic silver (if available)
Feb build, March delivery. I've been told that the spec will have to be set in tablets of stone by probably 1st week December.

Re: Staying with arctic silver (I think)

Nice choices, that is a fairly high spec car. What was the final price? There is no doubt that the car will be fantastic.

Re: Staying with arctic silver (I think)

Pounds46,500. There are always other things you can add - I think I've got the balance about right. For me, anyway.

Re: Staying with arctic silver (I think)

    Sure...?

Re: Staying with arctic silver (I think)

You'll be posting the "newer" spec in a few days dreamcar! No doubt!!!!!

Still a nice spec, would like a few of those on my spec list but have to stop somewhere!

Re: Staying with arctic silver (I think)

The only bits I might add, if available are painted roll bars and I THINK I don't want PASM. Tried it yesterday on a 997S and even in sport mode didn't find it uncomfortably firm even on comparatively uneven road surfaces. Very comfortable in Normal mode with minimal roll. Mind, it is something else to go expensively wrong when the warranty runs out?

Re: Staying with arctic silver (I think)

    Thanks for the info, dreamcar.

This actually sounds very good! What are you going for instead? Std. or sport (if there is one) suspension?

Don't think there is a sports suspension option on the Boxster. If there was I would still prefer PASM as you don't have the hard ride when you don't want it and vice versa. I think sports suspension combined with the 19" wheels I am having would be too hard all the time on Blighty's crumbling roads. I am still undecided on PASM - it was impressive - someone out there lend me a 997 "S" for a week to really make my mind up?

Re: Staying with arctic silver (I think)

I would decide upon my preferred use of the car. Unless you track the car or make your spirited drives through countrysides you might not need the PASM option. I am also wondering if there is a difference in handling like it occurs on the 997 depending on each suspension variant.

By the way, why not let your girlfriend decide this?

Re: Staying with arctic silver (I think)

Which is why I think I won't be going for it. I have a good specced car and I have to stop somewhere. I believe the difference between standard suspension and PASM "Normal" is marginal and the sport mode probably wouldn't get used that often.
