I expect sales of the GT4 to be big for such a specific driver oriented car, it is a great value imo which is rare from Porsche.

I'm in Italy right now, so only short: PDK has been already developed for this engine setup, so I am pretty positive that it is going to be offered sooner or later.

    Carlos from Spain:

Now if only they can put that 3.0LTurbo derived NA 4.0L engine back into the Carreras and dump the 3.0L turbo

That's probably not going to happen..sadly

    Check the emissions...

    4.0 Cayman GT4

    249 g/km

    3.0 Carrera S

    206 g/km

And probably the base Carrera will be under 200 g/km

In a context where Porsche needs to reduce this numbers as much as possible...

    Re: Cayman GT4

Note to Porsche: that's a properly designed front apron. Now go back and fix tha G*****n 911 for us and stop with the humiliation!

    Re: Cayman GT4

Don't worry; the front of the next gen boxster/cayman will probably get an update to the new company look as well...

    Re: Cayman GT4

The front of the 992 could be somewhat rectified with the optional Sport Apron for the princely sum of €2.558!!

No help for the tragic rear bumper  unfortunately.

€2,5k for a different design front bumper made with same materials and no added features, just from a different mold... that is needed to fix the looks of an ugly standard front bumper... brutal.

    Re: Cayman GT4

I don't find the sport apron to be any better than the standard one... tbh, I prefer the standard one, as long as it doesn't have that ungainly rocket launcher look of the adaptive cruise control sensor.

For me the standard front is too saloon-car-like. Not sporty at all.

Anyway plenty of work for the facelift on the 992.

Imv, 992 looks very good in real life. Actually very easy to be mistaken with 991.2 turbo (front view in mind).

What about California? At some point, I doubt that Porsche will offer cars w/o PF outside of California.

They do all these great things and then slap a manual transmission and an idle-stop system with a heavier battery... It’s idiotic...

    Good effort overall though.

I wouldn't change a thing. The 991.1 was flawed from the beginning with the wierd looking turn signals, but the 992.1 is spot on, IMO.

Find another dealer, Dave.  Maybe he was confusing it with Speedster.  The Spyder is not limited and will be made for a longer production run this time.  Should not be difficult to order...

Compared to the 991, I like the wider front that makes the car more "square", the shaping of the top of front wheel arches and I like the interior. The rear brake light looks very good IMO Smiley

I don't like the large front grille and the lower rear, especially with the cheap looking unpainted plastic. These are jobs for the facelift.

White suits the 992, even with constraint of the abundance of black plastics.

I think the new GT4 looks awesome, purposeful, racey. The 992, not so much. It’s still look like a bloated mess to me all around except the rear. But at least the interior is super nice.

It sounds like there could also be a GT4 RS and PDK variant to follow...

Andreas Preuninger talking to Car magazine:

As for PDK though… ‘I would lie to you if I said we didn’t discuss this, and maybe later in the lifecycle we are bringing a variant with PDK.’

Serious lightweight bucket seats for GT4

The introduction of the GT4/Spyder clearly indicates that Porsche is more than willing to move the 992 into the more mature GT role while its younger and smaller siblings moves into the more purposeful sports car function.  Now I am less interested in that manual 992 Carrera S!

    Re: Cayman GT4

The regular GT4 PDK will be available in June 2020. RS, if it comes, will not be available until 2021. In the meantime a 25th Anniversary Boxster will be released with 450 hp in the same colour scheme as the Boxster prototype - Silver, red leather and copper coloured wheels

Oh, and there will be a Boxster GTS 4.0l.

I would totally get one if it comes with PDK. Pointless to buy manual cars now.

As for the GT4RS, on theory it will be a GREAT track car, but then again it will be that much slower than a proper track car.

The 25th Anniversary Boxster is interesting, especially, if it has additional cabin details that ape those of the original concept car.  That one was really amazing.  Unfortunately, the first generation Boxster was more than disappointing when compared with the details of the concept.  Audi, on the other hand, was definitely more faithful in replicating its TT concept into a roadworthy car.  Having owned both the Audi and the original Boxster but had its pluses and minuses with the Audi, surprisingly, holding a more dear place for me than the Boxster.  The details of the original TT were that much more ahead on that car that it felt more special, especially with its original, more lively suspension settings.

What I am not sure of is the flat expanse between the A pillar and the mirror which I guess is needed to get out to the widened front fender but it is a bit of a head scratch. Sorry it is one of those things you don’t notice but once you do you keep looking....

I don't think the new GT4 is worth the price increase since it really isn't any different from the original.  Those claimed NOS times are mainly due to new tire tech and resurfacing of NOS.

They only gave a rough estimate of 10 seconds faster.  I bet it will be significantly faster than that when they actually set a time.
