True, but you have to start somewhere and renewables are growing pretty quickly. Renewables in the US went from 13% to 17% of total energy production in just 5 years and it will probably keep growing at an even faster rate as renewable tech gets cheaper and cheaper.

That sounds like a great development then Smiley

More of the camouflage is being removed so the launch window is quickly approaching.  Looks like the headlamps will resemble the design of the Mission E.

Imagine Porsche stuffing the 680HP e-hybrid package into it. Perfect sized sports sedan!

True but Porsche will release more information before its arrival at Frankfurt, just like it always has in the past.  If anything, this car, being its first EV, probably will get an early debut to tout it to the media.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

This will be a good-looking sports sedan but far away from the gorgeous Mission e concept. And I fear a little bit boring too...

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

I know this car is heavily camouflaged still, but I’m starting to have my doubts that the final version will be exciting. The Taycan really has to stand out from the Panamera in particular, or it will look “corporate”—a design too dependent on chassis cost savings, prior parts use, and Porsche’s evolutionary ideology.  Hope I am wrong...

Good photoshop jobs, gives a better impression of the final version with the camo removed.

Indeed, it will look much better when all the camo is removed... how about in Amazon Green? Smiley

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

Any rumors or info regarding weight and if Porsche have any specific set targets? The battery pack is supposed to be about 90-95kWh afaik or maybe they introduce different sized packs for the different models?

In comparison a Tesla S is about 2250kg with a 100kWh pack and Model 3 is about 1800kg with a 75kWh pack. Taycan is supposed to be a lot smaller than the Panamera and if they use a lot of aluminium and other light weigh materials it would make sense to end up around 1900-2000kg? Still heavy, but with rear axle steering, PDCC and some other tech  it will hopefully end up feeling nimble with the optimal weight distribution and all the weight down low in the car.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

haven't heard anything but was asking myself the same question. I expect it to be beyond 2000kg with all the additional wizards and comfort functions. But Porsche has a lot of experience making such heavy cars handle well and with the low center of gravity it should be even better. (The official weight of my P100D is 2316kg-2402kg)

You're probably right that it will be difficult to end up under 2000kg with such a big battery pack also. Only that will be 600-700kg. Wikipedia says around 2000kg kerb weight for the Taycan, but that should of course be taken with a grain of salt.

Kerb weight according to Wikipedia is 2250kg for the P100D and 2200kg for 100D. The figure you posted is probably with driver (75kg) according to DIN kerb weight.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

Yes, It's the weight according to the German registration certificate, that is with all liquids and a 75kg driver

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

    Battery is 105 kWh.

Porsche has their own internal target, as the release date is still far away there is no need for them to release those to the public. But one thing everyone knows for sure, when they release a number, they can for sure meet and exceed whatever they will published, unlike just about every other automaker.

Not counting those bogus fuel economy that are unachievable by any car makers anyways, I don't think Porsche ever released a number they cannot meet and break. They are the most honest in advertising.

Looks like all the nice design elements of the show car are gone (silhouette, rear doors, etc.), and only the ugly (imo) headlights are left. Unfortunate.

I actually like how it has turned out. We all knew that it was not going to look like the concept car even if that has some really beautiful design cues.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

KMM, I worry too, but  if you enlarge the photo and look carefully at the side in front of the rear wheel well, it looks like large pieces of camo are attached together. Hopefully underneath is a more exotic and curvy design.

There is certainly still a fair amount of camo... but will there be a surprise? Smiley
