Today visit at our Lotus dealer to unpack the Liteblox battery for a quick look.

The watch is for a size comparison - the installation will follow during the next days.

What happened to this gorgeous 964RS? This is my dream 911.

for the mods, interesting to know that Manthey can do some magic.  After all, they are PAG with another flag indecision

did you play with camber? Weight cornering? Toe? Did you keep all parts stock or you added their extended arms?

I sold the 964 RS in 2016 for top money after 22 years of ownership - why?  At that time I had good use for the money with a business-project and I always said, that this car is not a 100K€-car...after the price doubled again, it had to go...

With the 991 Touring Manthey made just a suspension set up, with a little more dynamic feel...no exchange of parts, because of my approved insurance.

I understand: my 964 Carrera 2 is great, but in no way its value is €60K and the RS in comparison €200 K. They are different, true, but no more than twice as much.

Smileygood to know that you don't even qualify it as a 100kE car. please explain your point of view.

In the 1990th I used the 964 RS as a DD and for a lot of track days - at that time nothing else even came close to it. I thought about changing to the 993 RS, but this car was not very much better than my car, as I could still follow the boys, even with the big clubsport wings.

In 1999 I drove for the first time the 996 GT3 at Spa  -  Boy this car was so much better on track and way faster - then came the 997 GT3 and RS - these cars again were so much better to drive.

At one point you could buy a used 997 GT3 RS for the same money as my 964 RS, close to 100k€. Then I said, my car is not a 100K€ car, but the 997 is...

I´m not a collector, I love to drive my toys...and I had the luck to sell the 964 RS for way over 200k€. It was a one owner car, accident free, first paint, Porsche Classic serviced with 29.900 Km - a collectors dream...

As Mikla wrote - If you want the 964 RS experience - buy a 1990 964 C2 and install a new suspension, cup exhaust, chip it and then you can enjoy it without the fear of loosing the value of a real RS.

Free money and wealth growth attracts more customer and rarity of the cars put the price up mechanically. crying

It is sad but reality and most of the GT cars now go from hands to hands by flipping game even with the fact that PAG outrageously increased base price and options.

When I was young boy (not so long ago smiley) there was 964 and 993 closed to home. I still love them now as the very first day. I will need to have one even if I need to wait longer till the next crisis. It is more than the performance but I ageee the rise to 200k+ is just silly.

This is exactly what I have done: Bilstein/H&R suspension with RS geometry, exhaust (repro missing) and I got 80% of the experience. Do not want togo any further... yet Smiley

Interesting to note that Gaia, obviously the manufacturer of the Li-Io battery, filed for bankruptcy  in 2017. From my understanding they produce batteries for other applications now so Porsche would have to source a different manufacturer most probably.

Todays trip - 700 Km through Germany to the Sachsenring for a trackday and back home.

Early start at the homebase to visit my friend on the Autobahn with his Lotus 3-11.

Lots of great driving at the Sachsenring - 5 x 30 minutes in two small groups - perfect.

We had to install DB killers to our cars to meet the noise limits.

Re: 991.2 GT3 Touring on tour

The dB limits on German tracks is another reason I will barely track my Performance...ridiculous.

I was on the Salzburgring in my car last year, official limit is 98 (I think) but my car produced way over 110 and they closed both eyes...oops...ears. A Performante hit over 120 dB, no problem either but it probably depends on the day, the time and the event.

    Still...stupid rules.

Re: 991.2 GT3 Touring on tour

    Short side story:

After my visit to Manthey at the Ring, the car had a vibration noise from 240Km/h to 260km/h. It made me nuts during the 400 Km trip back home. I spoke to Manthey, but they had no solution. On the way to the Sachsenring, I had a co-pilot and we were searching for the vibaration for two hours without success.

When my co-pilot left the car at the Sachsenring, he put his hand on the middle console and the ashtray opened....surprise we found a 20cent coin inside, which was responsible for the vibration.

So, a very honestly Manthey-mechanic found the coin under the seat, during the roll cage installation and created with it the vibraration and bad feelings for me...crazy. heartindecision

Well, you actually FOUND the culprit ... Smiley ... a repair shop would have at least ripped the whole suspension apart or requested a new set of tires ... lucky you ... Smiley

Re: 991.2 GT3 Touring on tour

The coin issue...had it too in my E63 a few weeks ago...drove me nuts (vibrations from the sound system, coin was so small that I didn't see it when I looked at the side door panels). I couldn't listen to louder music because there was that vibration... Smiley
