1969 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3

Got myself a classic, as often in city traffic I find the calming surroundings of a classic car much more pleasant than the business-like environment of modern cars. It slows you down quite literally and figuratively. I went for a 300 SEL 6.3 as to me it's the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz luxury combined with their first foray into muscle cars, it created the basis for AMG as well.

My spec of warm silver lacquer combined with cognac interior and yellow headlights (car was first delivered to Paris) works really well imo. Can't wait to take it on a weekend into the countryside.

There is no stopping you with the classics kiss I really wonder how it is to drive around one of those . Not too '' slow '' ? Like in every corner needs to be taken carefully ? And , you must attract more attention then in the GT3 indecision

Well it isn't slow from an acceleration point of view, it has 300hp and >500Nm (or at least had), it brakes surprisingly well too. However it dives and leans like you cannot imagine, but that what makes it hilarious, and makes you properly slow down in your approach. Once you step in you just take things down a notch. Ideally you'd have a sporty classic next to it, a 2.0 911 SWB of the same era would be perfect. Smiley

I can imagine back in that time it must have been spectacular.

Add to that the fact that it happened in communist Poland, car was just purchased by my Dad’s buddy at government auction.

car was formerly owned by Wladyslaw Gomulka, former 1st Secretary of Communist Party.

Thanks for the positive reactions guys, appreciate it! One of the less interesting experiences today was stopping at the gas station, attracting a crowd, and having no clue where to fill it up. yes

It appears you have to flip your license plate back to find the nozzle, pointed out by a taxi driver after 30 mins of searching. smiley

Love it. My Dad always had a 450sel. A bit newer but same principle. Gladstone and I took it on to the highway a few times to top it out. Scary fast.

Thanks mate! It would be interesting for you to compare this to the 6 cil model you had. In this one the engine really dominates the car, the entire car vibrates and twists on throttle, hilarious. It’s pretty loud as well!
