    OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

Porsche is extending its Cayenne family. An even sportier vehicle has been added to the third generation of this highly successful SUV range – the Cayenne Coupé. “The Coupé includes all the technical highlights of the current Cayenne, but has an even more dynamic design and new technical details that position it as more progressive, athletic, and emotional,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. The highlights of the new Cayenne model include sharper lines with a totally unique rear section, an adaptive rear spoiler, a rear bench with the characteristics of two individual seats, and two different roof concepts – a panoramic fixed glass roof fitted as standard, and an optional carbon roof.

A steeply sloping roof line creates unrivalled elegance
Proportions that are more dynamic combine with custom design elements to lend the new Cayenne Coupé an unrivalled elegance. “The significantly more steep roof line that falls away to the rear makes the Cayenne Coupé appear even more dynamic, and positions it as the sportiest-looking model in the segment,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. That effect is supported by a roof spoiler, which accentuates the distinctive Coupé silhouette. The front windscreen and A-pillar are shallower than in the Cayenne, courtesy of a roof edge that has been lowered by around 20 millimetres. Redesigned rear doors and fenders broaden the shoulders of this vehicle by 18 millimetres, contributing to its overall muscular impression. The rear number plate is integrated into the bumper, making the vehicle seem closer to the ground.

With its adaptive roof spoiler, the current Cayenne Turbo was the first SUV to feature this type of active aerodynamics. The new Cayenne Coupé picks up that ball and runs with it. On each Cayenne Coupé model, a roof spoiler is combined with a new adaptive rear spoiler as part of Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA). The spoiler – harmonically integrated into this model’s silhouette – extends by 135 mm at speeds of 90 km/h and up, increasing the contact pressure on the rear axle, while PAA simultaneously enhances efficiency.

Large panoramic fixed glass roof fitted as standard, with a carbon roof option
The new Cayenne Coupé comes with a 2.16 m2 panoramic fixed glass roof as standard. The 0.92 m2glazed area gives all passengers an extraordinary sense of space, while the integrated roller blind protects against sun exposure and cold. A contoured carbon roof is optionally available for the Coupé on request. The centre seam gives the roof the characteristic look of a sports car, similar to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The carbon roof is available in one of the three lightweight sports packages. These packages also include the Sport Design features and new, weight-reduced 22-inch GT Design wheels, seat centres in classic checked fabric, and carbon and Alcantara accents in the interior. For the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, the package also includes a sports exhaust system.

Comfort on the road with four sports seats
The new Cayenne Coupé offers plenty of space for up to four people as standard. At the front, the new eight-way sports seats with integrated head rests offer exceptional comfort and optimum lateral support. In the rear, the Coupé comes fitted as standard with a rear bench that has the characteristics of two individual seats. Alternatively, the comfort rear seats – a familiar feature of the Cayenne – can be ordered at no additional cost. Rear passengers sit 30 millimetres lower than in the Cayenne, meaning there is plenty of headroom despite the vehicle’s sporty lowered silhouette. The boot capacity is 625 litres – ideal for everyday use – and rises to 1,540 litres when the rear seats are folded down (Cayenne Turbo Coupé: 600 to 1,510 litres).

Market launch with 340 PS and 550 PS turbocharged engines
The highly dynamic lines and custom design elements of the new Cayenne Coupé truly set it apart from the Cayenne. At the same time, it benefits from all the technical highlights of the third model generation, which features powerful drive systems, innovative chassis systems, a digitalised display and operating concept, and comprehensive connectivity.

Two high-performance engines are available at market launch. The Cayenne Coupé with six-cylinder turbocharged engine and displacement of three litres delivers 250 kW (340 PS) and maximum torque of 450 Nm. The Sport Chrono Package fitted in series-production vehicles achieves the standard sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.0 seconds, with this figure dropping to 5.9 seconds with the optional lightweight sports packages. The vehicle’s top speed is 243 km/h. The top-of-the-range Cayenne Turbo Coupé goes to the starting line with a four-litre V8 engine with twin-turbo charging, 404 kW (550 PS), and maximum torque of 770 Nm. The Cayenne Turbo Coupé accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 286 km/h.

An extensive range of equipment fitted ex works
The new Porsche Cayenne Coupé is available to order now and will be in dealerships from the end of May. In Germany, prices start at EUR 83,711 for the Cayenne Coupé and EUR 146,662 for the Cayenne Turbo Coupé – each including VAT and with country-specific equipment. The extensive standard equipment includes speed-sensitive Power Steering Plus, 20-inch alloy wheels, Park Assist at the front and rear including reversing camera, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and the Sport Chrono Package.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

Porsche is becoming a better Audi .... Certainly a good car, but the brand is getting way too big . Sad, as it will loose more and more of it's attractiveness to me .

They are too focused on mass market cars / general public  . Add the 4 doors Taycan  ...... that leaves the Porsche sports cars as a small margin of the brand .

It probably works well now , but will probably make Porsche just another car manufacturer in the future . Do they really need to expand that much ? The VAG group has enough brands to offer general public cars . They could very well keep Porsche as a more '' special '' brand .......

they just want high margin and profit. so they need to expand. crying

all the special brands are doing it; Aston, Ferrari are soon entering the SUV world. laugh

the future sportscar brands will just be a badge on fat and big cars with few elements linked to the heritage...angry

agree with Gnil….Porsche is a mass manufacturer….too many models and too little focus on the core.

i am really trying to like their latest offerings but simply cant…..too bland and boring….i see nothing interesting about the cayenne coupe...i probably wouldnt even have noticed its a coupe were it not for the title

This is not new news. Porsche has been a mass manufacturer for some time. Whether we like it or not these sales help finance R&D for the cars that appeal to enthusiasts like us. I do not see any new disconnect. With the Cayenne Turbo/ Turbo S specifically it faces far stiffer competition than at any time. There are far better products in terms of luxury and with the arrival of the Urus (what a car  Smiley)  a far better handling car as well. Admittedly these competitors are at higher price points but those that could burn money on depreciation on a Turbo S can now do the same with other manufacturers.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

At least they could have made it look a bit more attractive... yes I know, I know...I had one of the first Cayenne Turbo and they didn't really look pretty but c'mon, we're in 2019 now, at least they could give the Cayenne Coupe a proper look, especially in comparison with the Urus and the Q8.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

I like it, I like it. I know, it is all a matter of personal taste - one could argue that the back of the Cayenne Coupe looks like a soft washed Urus, but may be this is what I like about the Cayenne Coupe... And, c'mon, this new carbon roof option is not that bad, isn't it ? (Though  we do not need to talk about the 20 Kilos weight saving),,,

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

The only downside I see for now is the idiotic lava orange color because that color is horrible.

Suv is Suv and it is a like it or hate it feeling but I think it looks better than Q8 but not as madness as the Urus.

Porsche never tried to look crazy like a Lambo, it is more German style. They always punched above their league in term of performance and experience. Let’s see if they did something with it when the car will be tested.

Porsche make good cars for driving in the categories they are represented. But BMW and probably Mercedes are also very competent on the road and very well made

So, if you take out the long lost mystique factor from Porsche you are left with cars of generally dubious styling costing at least 50% more than other excellent German brands. Even the new 911 is a non-event.

VW has financially saved Porsche but at the same time it has damaged the prestige and status of the marque. Some odd exceptions like the GT3 cars and the GT2 do nothing to regain the lost prestige.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

The VW'isation of Porsche just rolls on and steam rollers over the exclusivity of the brand. I think I've said it before but it is like watching a re-run of what happened to BMW following the launch of the hugely succesful E36 3 series. Sales leapt up and the whole CI culture totally changed that brand. Then followed the spiral of chasing every niche to drive continued sales growth. The march of the German brands in this regard has been astonishing over the past 30 years.

Cars like this Cayenne coupe and the upcoming Taycan will simply continue to push Porsche farther and farther away from the brand many on this board grew up with as a specialist small volume sports car maker. The huge showrooms required to showcase all of these models are soulless places where the pressure is on sales staff to merely shift units as opposed to getting to know their customers and making them feel valued. It is all about chasing the money at the top end on the special edition models to give the brand an air of being for the wealthy and aspirational whilst the real business is about churning out the sales of the humdrum Macan and Cayenne models on finance deals. The problem with this business model is that the vehicle "park" grows exponentially year on year in the larger markets making Porsches a far more common sight and less special as a result. That aspect helps to kill off the aspirational nature of the brand and leads to deep discounting. That has already happened to Audi, BMW Mercedes in the UK market where these brands have virtually achieved mainstream volume sales levels.

Well put  - especially on the niche filling. Over 50% of Porsche sales in the UK are Macans. You need to take the F50 out for a spin to detox Smiley.

Indeed, and as a Porsche Motorsport fan, I see it in their racing program. A company that turns its back on the very series that made it a legend to concentrate on a Paris Accord driven Spec racing series that few are interested in , but is somehow justified because it will save the world and drive EV technology..or something, is a company that is playing politics. It is no longer satisfying its clients. It is now in the business of dictating what its clients should buy. I'm all for new technology (albeit that I'm still far from being convinced that pure EV is the way to go), but when politics is placed firmly ahead of engineering and heritage , then it's not for me. I don't have issues with offering EV products. I do have issues with it being mandated.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

It was one thing to bring out a more popular model ( Cayenne ) to save the brand . It is a very different to focus now only on growth and  taking market shares where ever is possible . A complete different approach . Sport and sports  car are not priority anymore and that is very sad . The brand could of carried on , keeping their core values and just making what is needed on the side to make it sustainable . Sharks and greed ? Corporate madness ?

Fortunately they still have the GT department  where the core values prevail .

Guys, without VW, Porsche would be in serious trouble right now, especially when it comes to the "electrification" of their product line(s).

Fact is: I still like Porsche a lot but they need to find a new design language fast before they end up being (visually) less attractive than Audi. yes I don't say Porsche needs a Lamborghini look but definitely something more exciting than Audi and what they offer now.

The GT model line won't exist in it's current state without the Cayenne, Macan and Panamera.

Wait for 992 GT line to see a new family coming...beat it while it is still hot.

They will try to find something else when the sales will slow down or crash.

VW saved them for sure to a certain point but now the cash cow is more important than anything else...

VW would be in a boatload of trouble right now if not for Porsche, their most profitable brand. Without Porsfche's money, VAG would have sunk under diesel gate.

    Two words: ugly rear.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

I'd agree with Whoopsy. VW are milking the Porsche brand for all it's worth. It really is the jewel in the crown for them in terms of profit potential when you look at the returns their other brands are yielding. They can amortise part of Audi's electrification R&D costs across future Porsche models and achieve higher margins in the process. They must be amazed at the pre-orders already in the bag for the Taycan and this will embolden the VW board even more to leverage the Porsche brand for as much as they can get out of it. The Macan has shown them just where the sweet spot is in terms of price points for Porsche as a volume producer.

Luckly we do not all have the same taste. I really like the cayenne coupe, do not like the other SUV coupe’s. The Urus is  for me much too big and pretentious. The version with carbon roof and leather/fabric interior looks great!

I totally agree with you. The Urus looks too busy especially the front, while the Q8 exterior looks good, it's interior is boring as hell and looks the worst vs the other big German cars, all new Audi's has boring and cheap interior imho.

The Cayenne coupe looks much better than the cayyene, the rear looks more like the new Aston DBS which is not a bad thing. The facelifted Macan looks horrible, so this actually makes a good alternative especially the Turbo for those who want a V8.
