I can only speak for Germany and haven't experienced it by myself but as soon as you import a car from the U.S. you have to pay and look for shipping, transport insurance, several bureaucratic documents and usually different headlights, at least on older cars. There are several companies around here organising things like this for you.
I would only consider this if I get a very reasonable price, which strongly depends on the model. If the GT3 is worth a thought, is not sure to me. How much is it selling at right now?
The 997 model is considerably cheaper in the US, especially if you consider the current exchange rate between Euro and Dollar!
Well you should take into account the 10% import duty and VAT when importing from outside EU too on new
and used cars. So is getting a new 997 from the US still cheaper then; I highly doubt.. You do see US/Canadian Cayenne's being offered on mobile.de
Futhermore the USDollar will most likely drop further against the euro coming months making things look even more attractive..... So it remains an interesting but tough question requiring expertise and depending very much on which model you're looking for.
