    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

    From Autocar.co.uk

“Porsche motorsport guru Andreas Preuninger confirmed to Autocar that the engine actually develops more power than is claimed and could have been homologated at 523bhp, but the company decided to err on the side of caution. In racing trim, if allowed to run without air restrictors, the engine could make more than 600bhp”

    OK RACE FORM : )

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

The Cup car, the GT3R and the RSR basically runs the same motor in the GT3RS.

In Cup car trim, the engine actually make less HP, rev limit is also lowered. ~485HP

In GT3R trim the motor makes the most power ~560HP

In RSR trim, the power goes back down to ~510HP.

GT3R and RSR need to run restrictors so yeah, 600HP is possible.

I wonder what they did to preserve the 520 hp. The filter loses hp. Other manufacturers, I think BMW, offer different power (e.g. -14 hp) in 6d-Euro cars compared to RoW.

    Good question...

In this power class, the loss through the particulate filter is around +/- 20 hp on n/a engines (Audi claims 20 hp for the V10 engine, so I guess the Huracan engine isn't different).

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Can Porsche have reserved VIN's that now are produced (No filter)?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

AP also said that 520 hp for the RS were +530...in that case 530 - 20 for the filter is 510. And 10 hp is easier to gain with ECU mapping...

Anyway I never saw real difference on the straights this year between my .2 GT3 and the .2 RSs ... to tell the truth it happened more than once me to be slightly faster probability due to areo (but slightly shorter ratios on the RS should balance that).

In the corners another story : )

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

What is interesting here is that they will go beyond summer. Very cool. 👍

kobalt, you don’t réserve VIN. You either have homologation for the certification or you derogate.

I am pretty sure derogation is only possible for a very very low number of cars. With the strategy to produce beyond summer indicates the opposite. Particulate filter is better than turbo. Don’t worry they will still make it nice.

Can they really build 991.2 GT3 RS so long next to the 992?

I believe the RSR runs 6 separate throttle bodies (one for each cylinder), instead of just 1 for the rest of the motors.  This helps make power as well as totally straight pipe exhaust and 10,000 rpm limit.   None of that possible on the road car.  600hp (150 hp per liter) is not possible for a road car with current technology and noise/emissions/consumption requirements.  And certainly not with a warranty (none on RSR)

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Ah ok.  So even with 6 throttles, GT3 R makes only 550hp, subject to BoP restrictor (I read that to mean 550 hp without restrictor).  Unfortunately, specs give no answer to redline or rpm where 550hp developed...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

The 550 quote for the GT3 R is exclusive of fitment of a sonic restrictor; the outgoing GT3 R redlined at 9400 RPM, per Porsche.

The RSR produces over 600 bhp without a sonic restrictor; redline is quoted at 9500 RPM.

It is conceivable that the GT3 R would develop more power than the RSR in BOP race trim; the GTE/GTLM cars only race against GT3/GTE cars in IMSA, and the GTLM cars manifest their superior laptimes through better aero, better braking, more tire grip, etc. instead of significant straightline advantage.

Do you know where the 600hp is produced (At what rpm?  At redline?).  Same question for R?

Do you know what changes are made to the RSR motor to make an additional 50hp or more, compared to R?

Don't expect more than 550 hp in the next 992 GT3 RS... Smiley

There are apparently ongoing discussions about a substantial weight loss (- 40, maybe 50 kg) for this car (vs 991.2) but difficult to achieve. If this happens and with 30 hp more, the performance improvement will be quite obviously.

I think if we get 4.0L 550hp NA power only, then we probably get 6 individual throttles from GT3R kiss

This will give amazing intake sound and throttle response.  Do you think GT3 (non-RS) just gets 520hp motor from current RS?

The RS does not have shorter gearing than GT3.  Its lower ratios are only there to offset the larger 21” rear tires and actually has slightly taller overall gearing than GT3 when considering this.

For the past four months I have kept the RPM’s at below 7000. Yesterday I took it to 9000 and the sound and fury was unbelievable. My Gt3’s Never sounded like that.
