RC - if the Performante has only different injectors and ECU it would be the perfect replacement for your R8!  Fantastic sound from that v10 as well.  With the EVO coming out the ‘older car’ may even be discounted. 😎👍

I already ordered a Performante...I think I mentioned it in another thread to you.

The Evo is the facelift, no more "older" cars. Production starts in February (I think), Performante and Huracan (only LP580-2 I think) production continues until April 2019 or so.

not really. tons of McLaren are joining as well including 2RS

the audi has just no appeal and sale is closed to zero...so no chance to hard test it here.

No doubt. Smiley Probably sticking with Performante even if the Evo "Performante" comes out. Particulate filter, noise regulations and whatnot...also the possible price tag of the next one. If the Evo is already 17k EUR more than the previous car, how much will Lambo charge for the next "Performante"? Ouch.

I waited for the Performante my whole life (seriously, perfect car for me), so... The R8 was a great fun car for little money (only now I realize for how little Smiley) and I had it over two years and didn't regret a second driving it. The Performante is the GT3 RS version of my R8 "911 Carrera" if you get the point, so it is exactly what I always wanted.

If Audi would have offered a R8 GT... Huracan Performante maintenance, insurance, etc. isn't as expensive as I thought it would be but still more than double (in average) than R8 cost. Also, lease cost is insanely expensive, it only makes sense if I buy the car after the lease ends. So either way, I am going to end up with the Performante (buying or leasing), no sense to get another car.

The Performante is staying my "forever" fun weekend car, this doesn't mean I won't get other cars along the way. When the AMG leases run out in 2-3 years, the (car) cards are re-shuffled again. Smiley

In our driving group, there is only one McLaren but tons of Porsches and Lamborghinis (mostly Aventadors, only one Performante) and only one Ferrari (488). Even two AMGs (GT-S and SL63). Probably depends on the region, track, car group, people, etc..

But I understand that you want to drive the car on the road only?

This noise issue on track is becoming a serious problem for trackday afficionados like me!

Yes, this could be a problem indeed but I haven't heard (yet) of customer cars being banned from tracks during track events, only test cars. Maybe you have different information?

But I understand that you want to drive the car on the road only?

No. I'm usually doing one to two fixed (bigger, mostly an entire weekend plus Friday) track events per year with a few buddies (some sort of tradition) and everything else is wide open. We also drive a lot on pass roads but that's of course a different story.

I am hoping for some track fun with Lamborghini, they seem to organize a track event from time to time, so maybe (out of curiosity) I am going to be there.

No more serious track racing for me, too expensive and too much time involved. Smiley I barely have the time to have those weekends with my buddies, not even talking about the cost involved because these "geniuses" always choose the best hotels and I end up paying over 2k EUR for a weekend with some driving, hotel room and food. Too much (for me) for such a short fun.

This noise issue on track is becoming a serious problem for trackday afficionados like me!

Depends on the track and the event but yes, like I said before, this could be a problem.

The new Huracan Evo has Ego mode, so no real problem here, you can set the exhaust quieter.

In Corsa mode? It is basically straight piped (with cats) when you switch to Corsa. Smiley

I know all the stock GT3 models on this planet and none sounds (loudness) even close to the Performante.

Let me guess: You straight piped yours and removed the cats? There is a reason the Performante was banned from the Nordschleife during the Supertest...a first, as far as I understood, for a street legal car.

Does it really matter? For me, yes. The reason is simple: Any exhaust mod could get me in serious trouble in Germany, including tax evasion (no kidding) but usually, the car is at least confiscated and towed, which can be a big annoyance and involving serious money (towing, TÜV check-up/sound check and fines, etc. can be up to 1200 EUR and even much more if they follow up with the tax evasion accusation).

Meaning: I do not get in serious trouble if the car is stock, even if the police stops me (and boy do they stop loud cars often now in Germany...).

It’s hard to reach the conclusion of Speciale vs Pista until you have driven both though my bias would be Speciale too. On the Challenge Stradale vs Speciale - that is a no contest. The Speciale wins hands down.
