Congrats and how nice to share the moment with your father !

My dad, if we were to speak in the first place, would certainly disown me for such a purchase.

    Re: Huracan Evo (2019 Facelift)

    Dear all

Many thanks for the kind words, highly appreciated. Cars are an emotional purchase when it comes to sports cars and we already started on a good note. As you all said, it's a moment I will always share with my dad and seeing him like rejuvenated makes me even more happy.

I hope the driving experience lives up to the looks, the sound experience certainly does. So far I drove the RWD and the Performante, I liked both so the EVO with the RWS and the clever LVDI should do the trick, especially when it comes to mountain roads. I'm already looking forward to drive the Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse and in the Dolomites once restrictions ease, also a run on the unrestricted German Autobahn with glowing exhaust pipes and the glorious V10 howl is something  I'm very much excited about.

@Porker, the Touring will stay, such a great car, classy looks, manual without OPF and that green, can't part with it
@Dave, the car is brand new, 46km on the odometer. RWD is great, but when you specc it up to AWD levels (ceramic breaks, 20 inch wheels and so on), the price differential shrinks greatly and interestingly the dealers are not keen on RWD models
@Leawood My dad would do the same if I bought a Tesla, horses for courses

    Re: Huracan Evo (2019 Facelift)

Don’t get me wrong.  I love your purchase.Unless it’s a used car bargain my dad is a pretty tough nut to crack when it comes to enjoying cars. Tesla is no exception. Chalk it up to Russian occupation during the war.

    Re: Huracan Evo (2019 Facelift)

    M3ike:

Just signed the contract today. Very happy, the EVO is like the Touring version of the Huracan, best mix of both worlds! Took my father with me, he has been a Lambo fan for ages and when the engine was started before we left (car will be PPF'd and ceramic coated before we pick it up) he had tears in his eyes so I knew I made the right decision. Would have been great if he financially contributed as well . Will pick it up in 3 weeks time, then breaking it in properly as I do with all my cars. Can't wait, very excited.

Congrats, Mike. kiss Very good choice and like Rossi said, welcome to the dark...oops...fun side. blush

I was so moved when I read about your dad, I wish mine would have been around for my first Lambo purchase but unfortunately he died in 2016 (he was 93 years old though).

Enjoy your new toy and be careful not to be too fast.

Can‘t wait to meet again, I bet Rossi will join us as well.

    Hi Leawood

No offense taken at all. My dad become a fan beginning of the 70s when he drove a Miura on the then still unrestricted Swiss Autobahn, imagine!

    Re: Huracan Evo (2019 Facelift)

Thanks RC, let's see which force is stronger at the end as I still keep the Frog Smiley I definitely agree with the Lambo being on the dark side, with the Fluo Capsule color scheme, the front spoiler with the painted edge makes it look like a open mouthed shark as you only can see the outer edges but no the matte black details of the vents when you have in your rear mirror!

Meeting is definitely on the cards once the restrictions are eased again.

    Mike

Congrats Mike.  Enjoy the V10.  Maybe one of the last car to have it.

    Re: Huracan Evo (2019 Facelift)

As weather forecast were very good for this weekend I had the pickup speeded up and took delivery yesterday. The biggest Lambo fan aka my dad came with me, we both couldn't really sleep the night before because of excitement. I already got up at 6am although pick up was only scheduled at 11.30am so I decided to hit my home gym to lift some weights to calm down.

We finally then went to the dealer and the handover was very well organized, got some cool goodies including a bottle of lit bottle of Dom Perignon with the green label fitting the car. Together with my father we pulled of the cover, the salesman also taking pictures indoor and outdoor with a cam. Only a short introduction was needed and then we hit the road for a 200km roundtrip, mainly mountain passes, one of them used to be a hillclimb road driven by the late Clay Regazzoni in the 70s.

As I'm still sticking to the breaking in process in terms of the engine according to the manual I only revved the car up to 6000rpm and no full throttle. The engine is a masterpiece, compared to my GT3 it already sounds good at very low revs, is very responsive and in Sport and Corsa mode pops and bangs. The steering feel is not as good as in the GT models from Porsche but the front end grip is very strong. Traction with 4WD is awesome, let's see how it copes when giving it full throttle out of hairpins. The RWS makes the car feel like a go-kart, it's amazing, feels very small and compact. It also rotates nicely, has a very neutral balance. The 3 driving modes make a huge difference how the car drives, Strada makes the car very docile, good to cruise through villages, suspension very compliant. In Sport it firms up in terms of steering weight and suspension, still subtle enough for country roads, soundwise you have already the full monty. Drivetrain is very rear biased then. In Corsa, power distribution is more neutral, steering heavier and suspension much firmer, shifts are ballistic, feels very much tight down and aggressive.

Brakes needed a bit getting used to, ultimate braking grip feels higher in the GT3, could also be the Cup tyres vs the PZero Corsas. The brakes probably also need a bit of break in.

Cabin feel and look is good, not as quirky as I though it to be. The sport seats area amazing, very similar to the Porsche buckets with the added bonus they're a bit wider at the shoulders and you can alter the back of the seat too.

Room for luggage is a joke, frunk is very small and behind the seats nothing to shout home about. But it is what it is.

Most surprisingly is the fact that so many people give you the thumbs up, even my wife was astonished as she was very much against the Lambo. I never got so many positive reactions on the road in 10 years of Porsche driving than in the last 2 days.

I've put not a bit more than 400km on it and I already love the car. Everytime I come home I could take it out again, lusting for more. So far I'm a happy chappy.

    More to come

    Mike

Yep, thumbs up is something Lambo drivers need to get used to. I know that some of you made fun of me when I reported this but it is a reality. Just last weekend again...thumbs up from bikers, bicycle riders, other drivers and even a truck driver. Won’t even mention the many kids waving and shouting “Lamborghini”. So many positive reactions make the ownership a delight. 😎

Speaking of retards: Was on a extremely curvy country road this weekend, had an older Audi RS5 behind me. In the curves, I pulled away from him around half a kilometer or more and when the straight came, I was adjusting my speed to the legal speed limit of 100 kph. He came from behind fast and passed me at a guessed 200+(!) kph. Then, shortly after, I caught up to him again (traffic in front of him) and when he passed a car in a curve(!), he almost hit a motorcycle approaching on the opposite lane. I saw how the motorcycle rider turned around and went after him but since we drove on the same road for another 10 km or so, I don’t think he caught up to him. Not sure if that Audi guy was drunk but it was really pathetic.
