4trac:spudgun:I still can't get my head around that brake light design. How on earth did that design got an approval?
To your comment and that of Joost above: is there a mandated EU height above ground, that such brake lights must be installed at? If so, that could explain why it needed to be higher than the engine slats...
Yes, there is... and funny enough some markets’ regulations are differing... EU demands a minimum height of 850 mm from ground or less than 150 mm below the bottom edge of the rear window. US requires less than 76.2 mm (19.5 inches) from the bottom edge of the rear window and this also defines the minimum height.
Nonetheless, there must be technical or stylistical reasons why they changed the appearance on the 992, the 991.2 had a regular 3rd brake light as a LED strip between rear window and engine cover.
In its awkwardness it does remind me of the 3rd brake light on the G-model 911s though...

Carlos from Spain:CGX car nut:EnglishManInNY:Anyone know when the Cabs will be coming out?
Unfortunately, the prototype was not well received in Paris today. https://mobile.twitter.com/PMBreakingNews/status/1068893328387842049
That is disgusting, what a bunch of pathetic loosers. A civilized state would call upon the police to take the garbage out...
At first, I sympathized with the yellow vest movement in France because there really is no reason for any government to raise fuel prices (taxes), other than making an extra buck, even if they use an environmental excuse. Also, they made some other "good" points.
Now, with these images and violence in general, I cannot sympathize with them anymore. I get it, not all of them agree with violence but if you cannot keep the violent protesters at bay, you're not better than them.
Have you see the aggression in this video? Unbelievable. Animals.

The new 992 design is more a tribute to Dieter Rams than a bad design.
If you are interested in Rams (or industrial design in general) a new documentary has come out on him just now!
It’s supposed to be good, i’ll watch it for sure... https://www.hustwit.com/rams/

Guest:Grant - how do you know we'll have a new LWBS design for 992?
No information - just a guess. You think the current ones will last a little longer?

I think the seats have been pretty universally acclaimed, however...:
New, more luxurious interior might necessitate a bucket with complementary design
Many customers lament the lack of folding functionality
I am personally quite pleased with the seats as they are at present; I would expect a new lightweight seat to weigh more than the current one

Thank you. I am aware of the Rams documentary and yet to find time to watch it though.

Kobalt:KMM:Ha! And here I thought that all Porsche gear shifters were based on shaving implements!!! Thank you for setting me straight.
You where right: The 917 shifter was based on shaving equipment.
This means, Porsche replaced its (PDK) gear shift sponsor for the 992 then to BRAUN ?
Further to my earlier comments about the UK pricing structure appearing considerably better than the German home market, I noted on another forum that a German based user has called a few UK dealerships and been quoted 20k euros less for the same spec (a modestly optioned car he says) but a delivery delay penalty of around 6 months for a left hand drive car. I thought this may be of interest to anyone looking for a 992 in Europe and who can plan ahead to deal with the delivery issue.

I did this once and bought/exported a German-spec LHD C00 car from the UK. No problem at all once I found a dealer who was up for it. I can offer some pointers if anyone is interested.
