    I never driven a really light car like yours Grant, but I guess it is a riot!

    Light cars are only fun if they aren't overpowered. 

    Scariest and most exhilarating thing I ever drove was an early 80's Frisbee can-am car. Based on a Lola tub it was about 1800lbs and had well in excess of 550hp from it's 305ci V8. Old bias ply slicks and that thing moved around non-stop unless you were really pushing hard, then the downforce was amazing. Took fun to a whole new level.

    The next 992 Porsche 911 GTS spied in spectacular green paint...

    There's virtually no camouflage...

    At this point, we’ve seen a whole lot of different 992 generation Porsche 911s. However, we’re still missing all the extra spicy versions. One of those is the 911 GTS, which, to keep the metaphor rolling, is a medium spice level Porsche 911. Porsche cranks everything up a little bit further than a Carrera S, and you get a slightly massaged exterior look, too. 

    This extremely green 992 GTS tester caught our eye immediately, especially since Porsche mailed it in on the camouflage today. The mismatched wheels and lack of a GTS model designation on the rear end are the only couple of details that make any attempts at a disguise. Those wheels are one of the giveaways that this car is a GTS model. They use center-locking lugs, a characteristic of the GTS that we’re accustomed to seeing along with other high-performance 911s. We’re also getting a good look at a blacked-out exterior package on this GTS. The taillights are a smoky dark gray; it has dark-finished exhaust tips, and the roof is a contrasting black, too. These dark trim finishes are normal to see on the GTS model. We’re missing the big GTS side sill stickers, but those will certainly come when the car is officially revealed.

    The last GTS had 30 more horsepower than a Carrera S, so expect a similar bump in power for this version, too — the current 911 Carrera S makes 443 horsepower. It’ll be running with a higher-output version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six in the 992. Like before, we’re guessing that the GTS will come outfitted with many of the desirable performance and appearance options that are available on the Carrera S. We’ll take ours in this screaming green paint. With next to no camouflage concealing this tester, watch out for a GTS reveal coming soon as Porsche slowly rolls out the rest of the 992 lineup.

    The road noise Harry mentioned is disappointing. Is there anyone with a 992 who could compare it to a 991? I’m sure the 991 wasn’t so bad. Even my 991 RS had reasonable noise level at motorway cruising speed.

    Great review, more impressive than I thought. I must admit having looked at used examples of 992 at my local Porsche Centre last week whilst our Boxster was having the annual mandatory (MoT) check - the free health check flagged another leaking air con condenser - covered by the extended warranty - and corroded exhaust flange bolts that were not -  and then seen several reviews (this is one of the best ones) the itch that I can't scratch has returned - the last time that happened was five years ago when we went for our Boxster GTS. Smiley

    The latest generation Porsche 911 is now available with a SportDesign package, which provides a revised front apron with a spoiler lip in distinctive design. The rear has also been reconfigured, with a new bumper section that has raised the number plate to incorporate a new air intake and outtake. The SportDesign package can be combined with optionally available SportDesign side skirts, which have the optical effect of lowering the car still closer to the road.

    Also available as a further option is the new Aerokit, which is offered on all Coupé versions of the 992 series. Based on the SportDesign package the Aerokit comes with a range of aerodynamic enhancements: a distinctive front spoiler, a fixed rear spoiler and fixed rear wing, reminding you of Porsche’s GT vehicles. A combination with the SportDesign side skirts enhances the ground hugging stance and further underlines the 911’s racing DNA.

    Experts spent months optimizing the design and function of the new Aerokit

    The new Aerokit has been engineered at Porsche’s development centre in Weissach where experts spent months optimizing the design and function. Prototypes were carefully honed in Porsche’s wind tunnel to ensure that the Aerokit fully delivers on its striking visual promise of reducing the uplift forces over both front and rear axle.

    That spoiler looks absolutely hideous. Best thing to say - it’s for those who want a GT3 but either can’t get one or can’t afford one (why make your 992 Carrera a wannabe GT3)? Worse thing it looks like a cheap spoiler purchased from an accessory shop and stuck on, like an 18 year old kid might put on a hatchback Smiley

    it is the sport design pack, always looked weird and/or misplace. remember 991.1? there was this ducktail and there was the ducktail/combo wing which was horrible smiley

    Well, I may still be one of those juvenils but I had a base 997 with aerokit and I did like it very much. In particular, as I felt that the balance of the aerokit at higher speeds really gave an advantage... Smiley

    Good question. Guess the only way to get an answer is to do an on track comparison between the 992 with its regular adaptable rear wing to a 992 with a new aero kit.

    Watt, could you explain what you mean by 'pig"?  I can agree that the 911 has grown wider and a bit longer, but isn't that growth necessary for higher performance and continued compeitivess?

    Color reminds me of my Signal Green 1969 911S, or of Wimbledon Green offered on 2001 911 Turbos.  Color is striking but starts to wear thin during the long run of daily ownership.

    The best looking one to me being the one seen on the new Boxster GTS

    My 124 Spider, met the same regulation yet it's tiny parking next to a 991, let alone a 992.
