Agreed . So who is up for starting a thread on the new, new 911, the “999”... rumours are that it will fix the many flaws of the 992 that owners are complaining about. It might even be the “last one” for... something.

Agreed . So who is up for starting a thread on the new, new 911, the “999”... rumours are that it will fix the many flaws of the 992 that owners are complaining about. It might even be the “last one” for... something.
The next generation 911 could be fully electric, and that would be a shame from an enjoyment standpoint. While as an EV acceleration would improve, the very characteristics that make the 911 so rewarding will be gone.

For me it is not about talking any new model, it is just that the whole certification issue in Germany drags on and Porsche needs keep up customer's interest...all press releases apart from the recent teaser to LA where just PR and not "car-related"...
"Car country Germany" currently is a real mess - I just ordered a new company car and I had not have very much of a choice, but just "what's available"...

Wonderbar:Geez—tough crowd. The “new” 992 is not even out yet, and folks are already starting to criticize a future, unseen car. Guess that’s OK, because the world will be coming to an end soon anyway
One should have been more explicit. The replacement for the 992 is said to be an EV. That should stimulate 992 sales as it will be the last of the real 911 line.

Did I miss something? I thought the more reliable rumors are that the next 911 might be a hybrid, not a pure EV. Seems to me that the combination of electric motor and petrol, like the 919, would be outstanding. I’d love more information on the 911 being a pure EV, so I can understand Porsche’s future better. Thanks.

Mild hybridization will start with the 992... 
(very likely with the next Turbo/S or latest with the 992.2).
The next gen 911 could be indeed fully electric but only if Taycan and Co. are a success story. Time will tell.

Heard rumblings about it before and the December issue of Car has George Kacher outlining Porsche’s EV future.

Last rumors were mild hybridization for the 992.1 Turbo/S... There were some challenges though, so...

I still love the car though.
I've joked about that too, but seriously, there is something unfinished looking about both front and rear lower valance, especially visible in Paulo’s yellow car shots above. Hence, IMO a good chance this is some residual camouflage, and at full introduction they will look more finished.

Guys, the plastic front of the 992 will probably look like this. A more decent and finished look. And i like it.
On the Panamera , the bumper also had a very cheap look on the spy pics.
As for the rear plastic, i dont see Ferrari guys complaining too much about the plastic. It does look good.

That Panamera has the optional Sport Design front bumper with the further cost option of gloss black painted inserts. The black test car has the standard front bumper. The Sport Design kit makes a huge visual difference to the Panamera as it really needs the painted side skirts and the painted Sport Design bumper to make the car appear sleeker.

I'm not holding my breath for this. The latest design directions with new bumpers (Panamera, Cayenne,...) have been awful. They somehow don't manage to get the right balance between interesting detailing and simplicity like they should do on this level (first line of thought, of course - Ferrari). Having said that, they tend not to miss the plot with 911 somehow at the end. There may be a hope...
