    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Just back from three track days, Wed-Fri, where Wed was limited to only GT cars ( RS,GT3 and GT 4). Just great fun and I even have I selfie of me and Markus Eriksson, taken by HIM....! smiley

Based on the talk in the pit, during dinner and every where else, the demand for GT cars is picking up fast. And regarding the 991.2 RS  its  going to be EXTREMELY difficult to get one, if you put together all the new RS "wanttohaves" with the gigantic list of people that didn't get .1 RS to a .2 RS listlaugh

My Porsche contacts tells can me (but I don't really dare to trust them on this, since this is going to be BIG fight among all the people on the .2 RS list...)that I have a good chance to get one. Hope for the best !blush

If it doesn't work out with the GT3 RS I can always comoft me with the facit that I'm VERY well positioned for the GT2 RS....kiss

Somedays I which I could combine my looks whit Whoopsys dealer status......

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

    Nice kisswhich track(s)?

It does seem demand for GTs is on the increase - I wonder why this is? That series models are getting more boring with poor feel? Or people looking for a fun asset which holds good value? Or just flippers looking to make a buck in the speculation market?

It also makes me wonder about P's marketing strategy - how come the 'niche' model is in such demand, which either can't or won't be satisfied? I'm starting to think that if Porsche said upfront that they'll build enough to meet demand, then a lot of people would lose interest.

Exactly. The regular 991 now with turbo is too comfy and not exclusive enough... They need to expand the GT lines, 4 seaters, convertible, with or without wings...

Don't get fooled by marketing bla bla. You realize that the "very limited" GT3RS was produced like 4000 times and you still believe that bla bla??? Porsche cars are never rare (except for the very last year of the bubble, maybe).

Mantorp Park. And most of the new RS "lovers" I've met is very much in to track their cars, so no flippers. But Porsche representatives told me that the low interest in combination with a dull stock market has attracted a née type of guys to Porsche. Pure investors I.e no flipper, but people wanting to by good assets that holds or increases in value.....

    Bad news....mail

And maybe the new Turbo S is à bit boring, but put some cup2's on that car and wow... It goes!!! Especially in rain, using all for wheel.... But it's to heavy, so they don't last that many lapssmiley

No no, I don't. But I believe in the supply-demand mechanism, and that is making the .2 RS EXTREMELY hard to get your hands on. At least up north where I live....laugh

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Sounds like Porsche should build a Macan GTRS, Panamera R Diesel, Cayenne GT6 RSR, soak up some demand and leave the 911 GTs to people actually interested in them indecision

I agree kiss Porsche should demand at least x track days/year in the contract when buying a GT car....smiley

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Why? GT are not track cars. They are road cars. Clubsport and Cups are tracks cars. GT are track capable cars that were made and setup for the road and that get easier to use on the road very every generation...

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Well, if you don't fancy trailing a cup car and bringing your mechanics, I do think that the second best for a track freak I.e the GT car, that you can DRIVE to the TRACK ,should be given to guys using it on track first. At least as long as the supply is resticted.....

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

+1.. The 911 RS' and GTs are the original (and perfect) cars for those who like to own something fun, drive it to the track, go pretty quick, and drive home again. Not everyone can afford a dedicated track car, and the speculators are driving the enthusiasts out with their bigger wallets yes

Fantastic color!!!  Is it the 2.7 RS Chartreuse green?

No.  It's Porsche #253 from the '70s.  Birch green in USA, licht grün in Germany.

It was ordered in memory of my departed IROC RS (9114600040) which was in the same color.

Thank you, beautiful color. Love the IROC RS what a privilege to have owned one.

Yesterday I drove the new 991.2 Carrera and it is obvious that is a very different value proposition for the senses: vacuum noise from the exhaust and torque everywhere. This is why some people target the GT as the only source of "old" sensorial emotions.

    Actually, it does, but indirectly.
The much stiffer GTx spring/damper combinations have never been installed into cabrio 911s for a very good reason. The punishment which the suspension subjects the body to is too great for the less rigid convertible bodies, and would cause them to fail early. For the same reason, Porsche has been unable to offer lowered versions of 911 cabrios in the past, even when the lowered suspensions were available on coupes.

Markus was there and joined us for dinner and gave us some interesting inside news on the F1 world. During the drivning, my grupp had the luck to have Oskar Palm ( 1st 2014 and 2nd 2015 in Carrera Cup sweden) helping us. He tried to convince me to by a Cup cat, but as said earlier in this thread, II like It simple, No fan of trailing the car and even less interested (and capable) to take car of such car. One day maybe, but until then I will be just fine with what I and Whoopsy did in Leipzig this May. A couple of days in a cup car with great instructors and NO worries about the care of the car ( however BIG worries about the excess fee indecision)

Grant, the Gt2RS will have over 650hp. It is too much car for me. Also, it will be priced close to $300,000 which is more than what I want to pay for a car.Smiley

If Porsche builds the 991.2RS they will do so in numbers greater than the .1 version. Otherwise why bother to put resources into it.Smiley

The lowest possible spec for a turbo RS would be 525hp and lots of torque.  If you can handle that, you can probably handle 650hp also (especially with the advanced PSM these days and some common sense).

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Just buy used. Unless you think the car you're buying will appreciate, it's foolish to buy new. $30-50K in savings on every used exotic within a year, guaranteed. With how quickly prices have climbed for new cars, I'll never buy new again. Waste of money considering you can almost always find your spec on the used market.
