CloseBMW must be kidding...this thing looks hideous. Sideline and rear look as if stolen from the old Mercedes GL. 
Even the interior isn't nice...

Is the new X5 even wider thant the new Cayenne? I think Cayenne is 198 and X5 200 if I am not mistaken, I would never buy such a car for the Swiss streets.
I think the X7 has its place in the automotive world. BMW must have done their research.
It will be a success for the right customers at the right markets in the world. Not everybody on the planet has the same taste when it comes to cars and most other things.
I don't think that other full-size SUVs like the Cullinan, Bentayga or lower down M-B GL, not to mention some US-only models like the Escalade, Yukon etc. look any better than the X7.

I love big ass SUVs, only with kids and with a wife with a shoe fetish you can really appreciate these big SUVs but the design is hideous.
Would even prefer this one (Ford Expedition Max) we had during our last US trip over the X7...

Yes...if I had to pay for the cars. 
I liked the Ford a lot, even if it was a V6 Biturbo (I think) and not a V8.
I don't like the X7 and it costs much more than the Ford.

IMO the above makes a lot of sense. It also indicates why the X7 is not to the taste of people on this Forum.

Hmm...maybe you're right but I still have my doubts (about the design of this car).

Well I can't really fault you for that, I had a Durango GT when I was in Arizona, and it was perfect for my needs. It also looks better than the X7.

SciFrog:Well let’s put it that way, it is at least better and fresher than a Mercedes GLS and way better than an Escalade. There is very little decent competition in that segment of the market.
I would still prefer the new GLS and Escalade over the X7, believe it or not.
Right now, I would probably go for the Urus or the Audi RSQ8 though (when it will be available...).
From a design point of view, I like the Range Rover Sport SVR and the Audi Q8 most.
