From the looks of it — the 992 looks perceptibly wider than the 2017 991.2 4s I drive.
I feel feel like I read two contradictory assertions here — one thst it is wider and another that it would be the same
Overall think the 992 looks great with some reservations of the front
Would be interesting interesting to have a list of the rumors those far on dimensions, hp etc
and finally are we going to see any surprises or do we pretty know everything about the car except how it is to drive?

At the risk of being repetitive, The 992 looks fantastic to me. To my eye it looks as if the 911 has matured and is more masculine. The front looks much "stronger" than what I perceived to be a "weak" front end in the 991.1 & 991 .2 (non- GT cars). I love the rear too. The car has a much better stance. This of course is a matter of opinion- but I had become a little bored with the 991 evolution. The 992 has reawakened my interest.

As usual, I shall be the one that says something that no one wants to say.
The 911 is like a woman.
First it was the pre-teen years, the original 911
Then it is teenager, the 964
Then it turned adult, the 993
Then it had kids, i.e. the Boxsters and Caymans, the 996
Then it got back to the gym after child birth, the 997
Then it gotten older and became a MILF, the 991
Now it's just a fat middle age woman, the 992.
Next stop it will be a old saggy woman, the 99?

Hey, there is still an option to do Botox, Tummy tuck etc for the coming 99's.......

SciFrog:Always had in mind a more feminine touch for the 911 and masculine for Lambo and Ferrari. My old 911 is actually driven by a woman and my wife drove the 911 quite extensively, but not the Ferraris or even AM...
Well, I have an explanation for that:
Porsche attracts guys in general due to the cool aid around the brand...
Fefe and AM attracts young chicks and gold diggers...
So you have the reason why there are specific types of driver behind the different brands

I'd suggest the stigma may be different in different countries. In the UK, it's Volvos\Mercedes\Bentley which are aligned to the generalisation of older folk - however I've seen Mercedes & Volvo actively try to address that with advertising. AM are cool - British & unreliable - but that's OK.....

If I wanted to generalize:
Porsche is the ultimate real man's car This refers to the 911 mostly.
Ferrari are driven by playboys, sugardaddys ,some wannabes and by a small minority of devoted and real enthusiasts.
AM are usually owned by old money, older guys and British/British influenced people
Lamborghini is the favourite of exhibitionists, real show-offs and noise fetishists
Mercedes, BMW etc are classless and indefinable in ownership without meaning these brands are not worthy.
"Porsche....and Nothing else matters"
RC:So many 911 driven by women here in Bavaria... Even my wife's hairdresser owns one.
There are also some women who play football although it is a man's sport.
However, out of the masculine population real men drive 911 and especially the GT models.

SciFrog:My Vantage has been one of the most reliable car I have ever owned even after 10 years, go figure... My experience with Porsche reliability has been average at best. Ferrari is Ferrari, it’s own league.
991.2 Carrera GTS convertible = 0 issues.
991.1 Carrera GTS convertible = 0 issues.
991.1 Turbo S = 0 issues.
997.2 Carrera GTS convertible = 0 issues.
997 Turbo = 0 issues (only had an ECU failure the RUF ECU had a cold soldering point, otherwise the car was tuned...RUF 550...for over 30000 km, driven very hard, 0 issues).
997 Carrera S = 0 issues.
996 Carrera 4 Powerkit = 0 issues.
996 Carrera 2 = tons of issues, mainly interior quality and electronics.
The 911 is a very reliable Porsche in my opinion.

Of course - generalisations will draw reliable & not so reliable examples (my first 991 was awful - 2nd hasn't (yet) put a foot wrong) but in terms of scary bills - it's the one thing that's put me off owning a vantage over the years - I still think it's a stunning motorcar and maybe one day I'll get one to tuck away - one thing is for sure, after the OPC fiasco I've had I'll never buy another Porsche.
