2020 FORD CROWN VICTORIA *TEASER* (with and without model)

All these stories about Ford killing off their automotive lineup in North America are lies spread to make fans of the automaker feel bad. The Crown Vic is another vehicle in the automaker's development test. The sixth-generation (S650) Mustang will ride on a shorter wheelbase version of the Panther II platform that the Crown Vic will ride on. For 2020, the Crown Victoria will challenge the ultimate sedans in GT5 and GT7 forms. The GT5 with its 560hp, 5.0L V8 will compete with track-able go-getters like the Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack, Cadillac CTS-V, Lexus GS F, and BMW M5. The GT7 with its 737hp, 7.0L V8 will rival powerhunters like the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and the Mercedes-AMG E63 S.

The ST version with its 4.0TT V8 producing 503hp will compete with middle-grounds luxury sports sedans such as the Mercedes-AMG C63 S, BMW M550i, Audi S6, and Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. It will also be a little heavier than the GT5. Unlike the GT5 and GT7, the ST wears sets of 275/45/19 tires rather than the boldy 305/40/20.

Projected top speed is 238 miles per hour for the GT7 model, and even the GT5 model will hit 205, slashing the Dodge Charger Hellcat's 204, the Aston Martin Rapide's 203, the Bentley Flying Spur W12 S's 202, the BMW Alpina B6 Gran Coupe's 201, and the Cadillac CTS-V's 200.

0-60 mph times for the Sport AWD (3.0 Twincharged I6/393hp), ST (4.0TT V8/503hp), GT5 (5.0NA V8/560hp), and GT7 (7.0NA V8/737hp) are all 3.8 seconds. The GT7 is actually the slowest to 60 because it needs the longer gear ratio capable of 60 in first gear to prevent a wheelspin, but it will leave the rest of the CV lineup after that. Both the Sport AWD and the ST pack 516 lb-ft of torque.

0-60 mph times for the Sport RWD (2.3T I4/300hp) and the Police Interceptor (3.5TT V6/450hp) are 4.8 seconds.

0-60 mph times for the Base (2.7NA I6/252hp) and the Police Interceptor (2.7TT V6/335hp) are 6.6 seconds. The S, SE, and SEL versions are even slower to 60 because they are heavier than the Base; they wear 275/45/19 tires just like the Sport and ST, while the Base wears 215/60/16

Just out of curiosity: Why do the photos you post look so bad?

    Better question.

Do you think we care about a Ford Crown Victoria?

I think you are posting on the wrong forum. It might more receptive if you post it in say the Tesla forums or Hyundai ones.

The GT7 is certainly an interesting product with 737 hp but in principle, you are right, probably the wrong forum for the Crown Victoria. Smiley

I lament the demise of the previous generation CV.  It was the perfect police car to spot from miles away.  That was its importance.  Now the SUVs and in some areas pickups are hard to spot.

No kidding especially since most of the newer squad cars are going with the unmarked look.  Ford's current Explorer-based police interceptors have the strobe lights hidden under tinted glass making visual identification extremely difficult. Additionally, my Valentine One is having difficulty picking up whatever radar frequency they are currently using in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan.  As I wrote before I was given a warning this summer for driving 71 in a 70 mph.  The V1 remained silent.

I think it has some relevance, since he mentioned the next Mustang with use the same platform (shortened) and engines.  Nice to see NA motors with big power live on...

Re: 2020 FORD CROWN VICTORIA *TEASER* (with and without model)

Rumor has it that Volkswagen Group and Ford are proceeding with merger talks since Ford has a market cap around $34 billion.  Volkswagen Group is also contemplating spinning off a premium group comprised of Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, and Bugatti.  The proposed price of that deal easily funds the Ford deal, if true.

Never heard this rumor and I doubt it would make any sense for VW Group. Why would they do that?

Same goes for spinning off a premium group, this could actually be a huge issue for them when it comes to CO2 output and other environmental limitations.

All I know is that Ford and VW Group work together in the field of commercial vehicles, especially since VW Group tries to "penetrate" the US market much more than before. MAN and Scania are VW owned as far as I remember, so this would be a good thing.

    One of many articles: https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/2018/10/16/ford-volkswagen-partnership/1655475002/

    FCA spun off Ferrari.

Re: 2020 FORD CROWN VICTORIA *TEASER* (with and without model)

Honestly, I doubt it. VW Group is already big, they don't really need Ford for anything. Buying Ford? Maybe. Does it make sense? Probably not. Merging? Doesn't make sense, sorry.

Auto industry observers say Ford Motor Co. and Volkswagen would be an ideal marriage as the two carmakers engage in serious discussions about a potential partnership with unlimited potential.

Analysts note that the car companies recently initiated talks about small partnerships, but each may be motivated to think big because of their limited product lines and limited regional scope.

    Would...may...

Go to the V1 website, enter your serial number, and see if you need a version upgrade.  I haven't seen any issues in those areas.

It is up to date so I’m not sure what ISP is using for speed enforcement.  I drive through northern Indiana nearly weekend to my country home.

CGX is connected, I would not write off his rumors... Plus they make a lot of sense.

Ford is trading at a bargain and the F-series truck franchise could be worth double the current market cap of Ford.   Hackett and the Ford family are looking for an exit.   Ford needed to have the cleansing of a restructuring but avoided financial ruin in 2008 by securitization of its intellectual property assets.  The global portfolio holes in each company’s product line map well with the other company.

Re: 2020 FORD CROWN VICTORIA *TEASER* (with and without model)

Additional news on the potential Ford Volkswagen deal.  First stage is a strategic alliance not unlike the one between Nissan and Renault.  There is more than the commercial truck venture.
