    I think for a S PSE and SC are a must have, but not for a Non-S. Enthusiasts all the time buy S. Non-S buyers are different people. I would not spend 5k on 2 options if I dont want them really. On resale the car can be offered 3k cheaper and you still have 2k more in the pocket.

    When I look at second hand cars, very often all the sporty options are missing, espacially on Non-S cars.

    Why, do you think non-S drivers want to enjoy their car less than S drivers? Smiley

    I understand why people wouldn't need the extra power, especially in speed limited countries but PSE and especially Sport Chrono which enhances driving experience substantially (without Sport Chrono, I couldn't enjoy my GTS at all...throttle response would be horrible)? I don't know, I think you are wrong here.

    There is also a different buyer group. They are not interested in sporty driving. They have money and after driving SL and E or S class Mercedes they finally want to own! a Porsche.
    I see this people often here. Mostly around 65 and creep around on sunday.
    Second group, the business leaser, working at a bank in Frankfurt (or else) and using the 911 as daily driver as every other car.

    Chat with your sales guy about the typical 911 buyer. They are not like the people here and other car enthusiasts forums.

    I took a look at the german porsche web site for used cars.

    514 991 at all
    308 with PSE
    249 with SC
    157 with SC and PSE

    So only 25% speced their cars with SC and PSE

    Second look
    Non S 991 at all 116, with PSE and SC only 13

    With the 997, SC is a must have because the 997 didn't had the sport button as standard, but all 991 have the sport button. With that throttle response is good enough for most people.
    I have to admit that I also never used sport+ in the last 3 years, even sport is seldom used by me. But I always put the PDK in manual mode, deactivate start/stop and activate PSE and I am not driving slowly.......

    The throttle response is a gimmick. Half the throttle is basically not used. With a manual transmission it is a pain because off the line it revs the engine too quickly and you get unwanted clutch slippage. If I use it in the turbo it is just for the extra boost and once I am not standing still. I like my clutch and I hate to abuse it.  I don't know if in the 991.2 it provides overboost but that would be the only reason to get it.  So glad the turbo is so quiet.  If it had PSE I would not use it.  Speak softly and carry a big stick.  The turbo does not have it neccesary to be loud.  It decimates traffic with little noise and I love that.

    My beautiful air cooled cars had no PSE, or PASM or SC and they were totally involving. I am a hard core 911 buyer. Sadly these items have become must have options which makes one wonder why they are not included. The important stuff is only in GT cars and the fun stuff cost extra on even the base car. The 911 is now like taking your kids to Disneyland where marketing and envy are King.

    Poor wording - sorry.   I don't like fly by wire throttle in the first place but it is simply $ for enabling software code.  With a manual it is not ideal for a smooth get away with minimal clutch slippage. Smiley Maybe we can agree on that?

    I prefer to use the entire range of movement and be more precise.

    I get why one has to option these items for resale value and why even a used car buyer would need it for the same reason if nothing else.  It should be included.  Options should be paint and comfort items or entertainment items.  I guess it is hard to nail down a list.

    On a sports car, such software/chassis setups and even sport exhaust systems should be standard. Unfortunately... Smiley

    Truth to be told (I haven't asked though lately...), I get the feeling that Porsche dealers in Germany are happy with the new 911. Maybe I'm wrong, I'll try to find out more.

    I think what he is saying is adjustable throttle response is a gimmick and I would agree.  GT models have one mapping...and it feels fine in all situations.  

    For 90% of buyers, I think the new turbo 991.2s will represent a nice upgrade.  Such is progress I suppose.
