It was just a temporary decision and discussion (you should read what I wrote two posts down of that).
NOW it seems to be final, no more Diesel cars from Porsche.

Found this, apparently the rumor is no rumor anymore...should have posted it yesterday. 😜

The “last” turned out to be a diesel SUV not a NA GT car

olli:A recent article in German "manager magazine" claims that by 2027, only 911 will have ICE (and possibly hybrid tech), all other models including Macan, Cayenne and Panamera will be fully EV only, not even plug-in hybrids.
This is the plan...
Unfortunately, this will also very likely include a request from car manufacturers to politicians to introduce a speed limit in Germany. Right now 160-200 km/h are in discussion. The reason: By limiting the speed to 200 kph, range of ELVs will be substantially higher. If you think this can only be a joke, wait and see. Not tomorrow but it will come eventually.

JR-550:With this fuel consution on my new Cayennes S who needs a diesel?
Did you forget where the throttle paddle is? Last time I drove the new Cayenne S, my average was 17l/100 km.

Mikla:Well, my Macan makes 6,7 l/100km.... Reckon I would have dreamed that economy my my old Cayenne S V8.
My old Macan Turbo? 19-20l/100 km. How do you drive these puppies?

Haha forget where the throttle is, do you really live in Germany? On a monday driving through Germany in present times this was the max in terms of speed I could do. I was able to reach 180km/h () at this trip but more was not (safely) possible. Traffic in Germany is getting crazy. If the roads are free I can reach the 16-17 liters. The average on 5000 km is 11,4l/100km this includes faster driving and a lot of city driving. I think this is still not bad for such a big/heavy car.

To be honest, in this sort of car, because it's more pleasant. My gf's father drives a Panamera 4S Diesel, that's the V8 unit. I feel it suits a heavy cruiser better than the more strained 6-cil petrol engine? Effortless torque, nice sound, frugal even when pushed, ...

For the same reason I think the SQ7 is a cool offering, they're not pretty but sound good and are properly quick. That engine in an A6 (for example) would be a lovely thing but sadly the V8 diesel days are numbered.

True... The V8 Diesel in the Panamera 4S was a treat, this car will very likely become a collector's item at some point because only a couple of hundred (as far as I heard) were produced and sold.
Have you driven a 2019 RAM 1500 Rebel with V8? A friend in the US got this car for towing his boat, amazing interior quality (looks like a luxury SUV), great sound and looks, amazing ride feel and I'm usually not into pickups. These dinosaurs are dying slowly...

RC:Yep, the V8 Diesel fits a big truck like the Cayenne perfectly. Massive torque is really fun.
Cayenne EV and stronger hybrid versions can't come soon enough and it's a great move by Porsche to move in the electrification direction instead of investments in diesel engines. Massive and instant torque is really fun.

True but without the proper engine, it sounds like crap.
I do not argue regarding efficiency/whatever but when it comes to driving fun, a V8 still has it's appeals, even if an EV may actually be faster off the line.

Actually yes I have, had it as a rental in Toronto last year. Drove nicely indeed.

My son wants one when he finishes school...he fell in love with it. My wife promised him one if he has the final exam grade we are asking from him but...not very likely, unless he grows mentally. Right now he is only worried about computers, games, programming and cars. No girls yet...but he started to look...

I know, they're amazing, I have numbers in the high 9's on my GT3 on autobahn drives Munich-Brussels with avg speeds around 120km/h. Amazing how frugal they can be.

schmoell:This is my 991.2 Turbo S after 2h on the Autobahn - which I found quite amazing. On the other side it needed 30l/100km on the Red Bull ring a couple of weeks ago
Not impressed...did 5.9 l / 100 km with my 991.1 Turbo S at a constant 100 kph on a country road.
Btw: My usual average fuel consumption was always over 22 l / 100 km (Autobahn usually 26 or so...).
