Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

Well I have good news!!! The car went to the dealer and I am pleased to say that the minor annoyances are all resolved:-

seat - extra padding was placed into seat RESULT: squeak free seat.

clutch - the clicking noise is normal - sat in 3 different cars to test (2 997.2s and 1 997.1) - cant believe they couldnt use a quiet switch for this (Guess I was being very sensitive to noise as I was listening out for noises and will hopefully not notice it the more I drive)

cigarette lighter buzz - replaced with new lighter (easy job) and buzz fixed.

They also did a recall on the Air-con gassing while it was there - they will do it to all new 997.2s when they come to garage.

I am nearly at the magic 1000 miles - cant wait to put my foot down a bit more......... Loving the car more and more...

Thanks to all forum members..... How is everyone else finding their facelift 997s? Is it running better the more miles you are doing? Oil consumption? Any niggles? Would be nice to hear comments 1000/2000 + miles on....

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

Awesome news , time to really enjoy it with peace of mind ....

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

Good news mate - glad it is sorted. I've done 3000 miles at about 25mpg - no niggles - quite high oil consumption - 1 litre so far - I may ask the OPC to look at it - that way I can get the aircon gassing thing too!!!!

If you burned 1L of oil in 3,000 miles is not bad.

Particularly since oil consumption and fuel consumption both generally go down after the first few thousand kilometers / miles.

glad you have it sorted.......btw....step on it at will. these engines need no real break-in. the tires and breaks need to settle which is done with about 2-300 km's of driving.
after that you are free to go.....

the oil consumption is normal. it will become less. boxers by nature burn some oil.

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

Good to hear the car is now tip top Wayne...

I have just rolled over 2100 miles in my car. My oil consumption was roughly just under a 1L every thousand miles (OPC say this is OK). I had the OPC change the oil on the car on Tuesday as it is now completely run in, they also did the air con recall.

The only issue i have had is that i got the engine light come on in the traffic the other day. Took it to the OPC and it was caused by the new oil filler cap design ! Basically as it was not refitted correctly by myself when i last topped the oil up (day before) the engine was sucking in air. Does not do any engine damage but check your oil caps lads !!!!

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

    Thanks Chris / Mex.

How did you not fit the cap back on properly? Is it easily done? I havent touched mine yet so I guess it will be on properly.

What oil I need for topup? I havent done this yet.

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

Just go and ask te OPC for a couple of litres - Mobil 1 40w0

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

my local dealer isnt exactly local and tbh im sick of the sight of the place lol

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

Costco are selling Mobil 1 0w40 for about Pounds25 for 4L, and its normally Pounds15 for 1L in halfords, i have 1800 miles on the clock and have toped up 0.5 L twice

anyone much experience with the manual box? not sure if its me but 1st & 2nd seem very tight to find ...even when its been running for an hour or so and warmed up, more so in 1st... didnt really notice it the first few days but more so now...my first Porsche so dont really have anything else to go on

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

thanks for the costco tip - do I need anything else to stick it in the car - like a funnel?

My 1st and 2nd gear feels a bit tight when car is cold but definitely loosens up the warmer it gets. I think its a Porsche feature reading past forum posts....

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

no the oil cap pulls right out and there is a lip to rest the bottle on, i bought a cheap measuring jug which can give you better control than a 4L bottle ,you can get them at halfords

yeah my gears are very tight, sometimes need to go for first a couple of times to get it, before the car is warmed up...i do live in the north though so a little colder up here, ill keep an eye on it..

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

    You need this one Wayne:-

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-804-mobil-1-0w-40-advanced-performance-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx

BE CAREFUL AS THERE ARE LOTS OF SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT MOBIL1 OILS !!!

BTW the car is better than ever now it is run in... When you get it on the cam at about 4500RPM and accelerate out of a bend it is savage !!! Just need the sports exhaust now

Re: Update News: Facelift C2S - issues resolved

just make sure its Mobil one 0w 40 Fully synthetic,

agree the acceleration is unreal , i too have my car run in at 1800 miles but rarely find myself getting near the limiter, but have on a few occasions :-)

its an beast of a car...
