    Ferrari California

    Specced the California today.

    Grigio Titanio with Bordeaux leather.
    2+2
    20 inch rims
    Daytona seats
    Carbon Package
    Ipod
    Full option (except for the ceramic brakes)



    Car came in at 172euros net. Over 220k euros with spanish taxes.

    Dealer informed me that many people are not able to forward the 10k euros (on top of their deposit)demanded for the orders, hence backing out. Moreover Ferrari are now requesting for people to forward now 20keuros.

    Does not look like this car will be able to attain the production numbers previously stated.

    Last week I received a call from my dealer who wanted a confirmation that I still wanted the California. I told him I changed my mind and did not want the car.

    Any idea if anyone else is backing out of California ? It doesn't seem like a hit. They same happened when 612 came out.

    On the other hand for the first time I saw a 599 yesterday in person what an eye catcher, I almost crashed my car by looking at it. Those breaks are out of this world, awesome looking car.

    If you like 599 Ron you will like California in person. IMHO California looks way better(with roof and 20") then 599 in person...

    For the same money that California cost in EU you can buy Audi R8 as a sportscar, Audi S4 Avant as family car and Fiat Grand Punto for your wife.

    Ferrari or not-Califronia is overpriced...

    Ron, the impression I got that they were calling their customers to determine whether they were still interested. I do believe the car will sell but in my opinion it does not have the presence of past Ferrari's. The WOW factor is missing. Also, the California does not have the performance of a 430 which is close to five years old.

    I hope they drop value fast. I might pick up a used one in 3 or 4 years for hopefully around 160 ish?

    I like the styling kinda old style mixed with new. Certain colors make teh car though. Silver or Red for me.

    Just got the options list for the California this morning. It seems Ferrari are really going to town on the pricing of this car A low miles used 599 is starting to look much better value.

    I got that same verbal options as you did. For example if you add some nice option Cali would cost about Euro 215K(German price)! Too much? I think so...

    You have to pay extra for cruise control?!

    For the same price or less, how about buying a lightly used 599 or SLR... And if you really need 4 seats you could go for a used Phantom??

    You can also save 100k Euros by purchasing a 997.2S Cab which has the same up-to-date features (PDK and DI)and is a real sportscar.

    You have to make do with a soft top though.

    It seems Montezemolo and Ferrari PR were right when they said there will not be any entry-model Ferrari.

    They intend to increase their production ouput through a more accessible concept and not a lower-priced model (than F430).
