    Porsche 993 RS

Yesterday at SPA-Francorchamps, I saw a lot of 993 RS' on the circuit. I absolutely love this car. How does it compare to today's modern Porsche track cars?
Does anybody know the specs of the 993 RS, what does it weigh, and how well do they perform ?

I noticed that they are still expensive on the market.
Is it still a good performer (compared to 997 gt3) or more of a collector's car?

    Re: Porsche 993 RS

    another

    Re: Porsche 993 RS

I heard they are pretty raw for use on the street, this makes them pricey collector items. Gorgeous cars.

    Re: Porsche 993 RS

My good friend is a Porsche RS fanatic, as you can see. It's an awesome car - very comparable on the track with most modern day cars. Damn loud as well for a stock exhaust!

    Re: Porsche 993 RS

They are much less raw than 964RS and they can definitely be used on the street. I think they weigh about 2,800 lbs and have 300hp with 3.8L motor.

It is not competitive with GT3, but some would say it's more fun to drive...

    Re: Porsche 993 RS

Gauss, you probably saw me with a Fuscia 964RS... awful weather . There was also another black 993 RS, with the original, simpler, rear wing. He crashed exiting from the double left... .

I fully share the point with Grant: 993RS is more comfortable but a bit heavier...964RS weighs 2640lbs (1200kg) but is harshy. Supposedly, 964 should be a bit more of a performer , on track at least...

    Hi Oliver,

Yes I saw you. If I knew that you were a fellow board member I would have said hello Next time then

As for the weather, yes it was awful. My friends and I only participated in Run 7 and I saw a yellow 993 that also excited in the dirt...luckily no damage taken from what I could see.

The black RS that crashed, was it this one?

    Yes, that's the one.

We definitely need rennteam stickers, as said multiple times

I'll probably go again on October 25th. We'll sure meet sometimes there or at the 'Ring

I will let him know he has a fan

    Re: Porsche 993 RS

    Mike,
Could you PLEASE persuade him to post some pics of his cars together? I love the rs, and have dreamt of comparison pics between the 996 and 997, but to have a 993 additional to that... PLEASE?!? ;-)

    Hi Joost,
I'll see what I can do. I don't see him very often - will ask him to pop on here when he gets a chance.

    Re: Porsche 993 RS

    That would be awesome

    Re: Porsche 993 RS

Thanks! It surprises me how few "comparison" pics you find of the various generations models. (for all models btw, not only rs)
