    Christophorus - wristwatch fetish?

Issue 334 (October/November 2008) of Christophorus has advertisements for no fewer than 16 wristwatches in just 1 magazine. Talk about excessive?

Hehe, I was thinking the same when I had a look at the last issue (problem is I didn't like the style of the most of them...).

Oh and I thought they'd better suit a F-car magazine

    There we have only Panerai.

    Re: Christophorus - wristwatch fetish?

Christophorus and it's ilk are merely demonstrations for targeted advertising.

The articles, if you can even call them that, are thinly disguised, overly written/thesaurus-processed/translated regurgitations of press-releases.

Then again, aren't most magazines everywhere? That said, I have to say that I prefer UK CAR/EVO/GQ/Economist/etc over their USA equivalents.

    Re: Christophorus - wristwatch fetish?

Uh Oh! You know what that means, right? We better buy more watches. Otherwise our complimentary subscriptions might end.

+1 I'm glad I'm not the only one who is incredulous at the sheer number of watch ads

I've also lost count of the number of advertisements Christophorus contains for luxury yachts/cruisers and jewellery.

    Re: Christophorus - wristwatch fetish?

What the car was as a status-symbol for many men in the past is now the "watch" for many guy's which is understood by many top brands. U see now in a lot of magazines a wide spread of advertismn on watches. Nothing wrong with this in my books...

Way back when when I had a Boxster I had to pay for the subscription. After I got my 997S they stopped sending renew notifications and the magazine never stopped coming. I guess you do get something for "free" from Porsche!

    You PAID for Christophorus?

Even when all I had was a lowly 986 they always gave it to me for free. But I suppose that was good for them, since I kept buying P-cars...

There was a time a few years ago I got 3 copies in the mail every 2~ months(?) Luckily I moved and never told them so I am free from the spam

Well, I keep getting renewal invoices to continue my Christophorus subscription. I have always been a little miffed that after buying plenty of new Porsches over the last 35 years, including a Carrera GT, that Porsche still wants money from me to deliver factory promo materials.

Just inform your sales-person of your OPC. Just one click for him and you get the magazin for free for your lifetime.

A Carrera GT-Driver should not pay for the magazine, I just have a 92 964RS an I get the mag for free...

If Christophorus is so cool and avant-garde why don't they have diamond studded us$15K versions of these?

    Re: Christophorus - wristwatch fetish?

When I was a little kid, I used to enjoy playing 'number invaders' on a Casio calculator watch. Do any of you guys remember those? They were great
