More modern engine with less moving parts with lower emissions and fuel consumption.
You mean unproven engine and good for saving you a few quid on a long boring motorway trip in over-drive gear. I doubt if you drive the car round a track that you will get that much better fuel consumption.

Not a backward step in my way of thinking!
Porsche maxim: The newer car is the better car.
Depends what you are coming from. If trading in a stock 997 Turbo for a facelift Turbo then is it really $$,$$$ (depreciation on trade-in) better?! I think you'd be throwing your money down the drain personally. Fine if you are not trading in.
For those of us that have already improved the 997 Turbo ourselves, Porsche will be coming up way short until at least the 991 (and even that better have the ability to fly to be better! )
My point related to what advantages I expect 997TT.2 to have over 997TT.1, technically.
If depreciation and other economic variables are involved then the decision making is totally different and like in the case of the Carrera, the FL doesn't make much financial sense if you already own a 997.
However, the absence of financial logic in the switch from pre-FL to post-FL, must not blur the issue that the newer car is going to be the better one, like in all the line of Porsche cars.
Your car is definitely one of the best ever and enjoy it in safety
