    Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

    Hi,

I'm buying an 06 Carrera S (Cabriolet) this week. I'll probably need new tires soon. Any suggestions on the best tires, or tires to avoid, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

Michelin, Pirelli, Bidgestone, Contis on that order. Pick only N-rated tires.

    I agree completly !

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

Having switched our my OEM Pirelli tires out for a set of PS2's I think on balance I preferred the Pirelli P-Zeros. They seemed to grip a little better, felt a bit sharper on the turns and didn't break away as early. I like the PS2's I have now (and I do have the N spec) but I think I personally preferred the Pirelli tires.

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

I can't say much about Pirelli's but I do know first hand that Michelin's are WAY better than Bridgestone's.

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

+ 1 on Michleins. I think they last longer and ride better.

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

I've been very happy with my Michelin PS2s. Just over 12000 miles done and still over 4mm of treadwear left on all 4 tyres. Grip in the dry and wet have been great. Noise has been fine.

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

    I would go with Pirelli

I have had Michelin on my 06. Good tires, very easy to get a puncture(it just sucks in any nails glass or small screws).. Pirelli grabs them the same way but it never penetrates all the way ..+ ride quality is much better on the pirelli
    Just my opinion ..

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

I have owned a 2006 Carrera S with P Zero Rossos and 2006 Carrera 4S with Michelin PS2s. Although I have historically preferred Michelin tires tp Pirellis, I have to put the Pirellis on top. More grip, better communication and improved ride quality at the expense of quicker tire wear and a greater tendency to flat spot when stored for more than a few weeks. I would rank Bridgestone a distant third and would avoid mounting Contis on a Porsche when performance and handling are of greater importance than cost and durability.

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

your best option would be to look around on ebay for new take offs with the wheels .. for around 2500-3000 you get the new tire with an extra set of rims..

I think ADias got it right first time out...

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

BTW - there must be a host of threads here on this subject.

Just remember that when you search try both spellings...tire and tyre.

    Re: Tire Suggestoins Anybody???

Don't you agree that the M-P-B-C order varies according to the driving style of each of us and the suspension type in play? On my former C2S/mechanical suspension (non-Pasm) the Michelins were unbeatable in terms of handling under extreme sports driving conditions both on track and on the road whereas the Brig/s performed extremely well in the fields of ride comfort and longevity. It all depends on your priorities, just my .02 anyway
