I see more expensive (and new) cars in Germany lately, especially in larger cities, people seem to get more courageous and they have money to spend but this can turn around pretty fast, so... Smiley

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

Well to be honest RC your GT500 issues are self inflicted because you modded the car. Your gearbox and traction issue are 100% due to the mods no?

With what Miami has become, I can't see it going back to what it ever was before. There seem to be more tech, fashion and more finance based companies moving there and the food scene is finally bubbling. Miami has become the prime destination for weekend getaways from the northeast and some world class schools are planning to open branches there. It also looks like we passed the peak of the emerging market tensions (just look at a BRL chart) and some foreign money should head back there again. There are amazing urban developments planed and Beckham trying to bring a soccer team, the port of Miami has upgraded to newer cranes to handle bigger ships. Honestly there are no cities in Europe that can offer what Miami can today as a package (entertainment, low taxes, safety, good weather, beach, international hub). When we landed in LAX in transit from Tahiti we could only be shocked at the smog engulfing the place.

Yes RC, we all told you to stay away from aftermarket mods Smiley I remember specifically the sentences "mods will void the warranty" and "mode are not safe"... yet, you ignored our sincere warnings and tuned the poor mustang to death.

RC, I think you will not be happy with the R8.
If you "fear" the GT500, sell it for a good price and wait until you have to free money to buy that you really like.

From my view, everytime when you decide and buy a car with your "head" you get bored quicky. Look at the cars you bought in the last 5 years und you sell below a year ownership, remember the reasons why you bought them. Mainly logical, reasonable so far I could read here. You always try to find reasonable arguments for that cars. But in the end, you get bored. I have the same feeling now with the R8. Yes, relatively cheap and a great engine but not emotional enough.

I think it would be better to buy more this your "belly". You will be happier with the car for longer time.

Do you really think that the Huracane is a lot less reliable than the R8? Lamborgini learned a lot from Audi after Audi bought the company.

also never had issues in italy. four months in munich with the 458 italia were totally hassle-free last year. could be a small-town problem (don't know, never lived in one).

The comunist dictature that we now have in itlay, are making that supercar is impossible to have and use if u are italian, taxes, the finance police stops you every time, all people looks at you if you where a criminal, otherway how could you afford a car like that???... Different for the tourists...they are ok, and old cars too!

think that you can pay up,to 7000/8000 yearly tax for a 488.... If you keep it for 5 years its 35/40k taxes!!!! Stupid even if you have money!!! I immagine other countries if the have industries like maserat ferrari lamborhini ducati pagani all in the same area they will try to do something for creating something that make this special.....well here they hate them!!!!

just immagine that some years ago the mayor of bologna did not wanted the 1000 miglia to pass here in bologna because of pollution!!!!! This is how comunism can be.... And he was convinced that he made the city a favor !!!! While the whole city where so angry ....they lost tourists and business......

i was only stopped once by the guardia di finanza, namely at the border between italy and switzerland close to como. when he saw my italian passport he asked me how much cash i carried with me. my answer was 85 euros.....then he said 'che bella macchina' and greeted me off....

but when you live in italy may very well be different. just don't believe that austria is any better taxies, it is worse!!!!!

    SciFrog:

Nope, they have nothing to do with the mods, believe it or not (clutch explosion happened due to a manufacturing fault, the clutch itself was OK but a part not related to possible excessive wear/stress broke and caused the damage). Traction is actually better now because I have different tires (road tires instead of semi-slicks) and a different torque distribution in the lower rev range.

I fully agree here and I guess we are not talking about Miami downtown per se but the greater Miami area. So much to do, to see, to experience, amazing! We are going to spend New Year's Eve again there (but not at Bayside again, we want something different).

Eey, I noticed the GT4 is not in your list. I guess it is because it is perfect smiley

I know you are joking Smiley However, @Rossi makes a very valid point. There are whole bunch of really very very good cars that can be used day to day and have wonderful performance and handling characteristics. Its personal preference as to which one feels edges it. The really interesting question is that if you could only have one which one would you have and why? There will be a perfectly valid answer for each car for each person's personal financial and practical circumstances. However, I do take issue with all this the car has "no soul" reason for not buying a car.

Ironic that US citizens do not view Miami in the same way. To many, it is the last place to visit especially in the summer. Smiley

I wish I would have bought a 360CS when they were like $150K. I honestly don't think they are worth anything what they are asking these days, but I do really like it. Red with Red/Black two-tone alcantara with a great exhaust would be perfect for me -- sounds great, looks great, and is slow :)
