    more FL-pics - more questions...

Hi guys, someone has spotted a Cayman facelift testmule at a gas station.

Am I wrong or does the car seem to be equipped with an additional radiator behind the middle front air-intake ?
Also this seems to be the first pic of the FL with a (protective) grill in the middle air-intake. AFAIK the other FL-pics didn't show such a grill

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

For comparison purposes older pics of the FL:

    Testmule at NoS

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

Cheers for posting PJ - I like the front styling, seems to be a traditional and careful update.

How many of us existing Boxster / Cayman owners are going to be tempted by maybe 320bhp DI engine and the double-clutch gearbox? I for one would be if I was made of money but unfortunately I'm not

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

In the rear view it looks like the black car has a roll cage. Or am I mistaken?
Maybe this is a special edition and not a normal S model.
I was not aware that Porsche offers a roll cage option on a boxster and cayman.

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

Porsche-Jeck, the 3rd radiator has been used for tiptronic cars so maybe we can assume the PDK version uses a 3rd radiator as well.

Yes I know, Easy - but is the radiator used for the tiptronic cars that big Perhaps some Cayman tiptronic owners can enlighten us (sorry I'm not a tiptronic expert myself )
Not sure whether the PDK requires an additional radiator also Lot of questions

@ Ray: the testmules are often equipped with rollcages, no matter what model (more safety when tested on the track)

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

This is probably evidence of a facelift, not a clubsport.

Mules almost always have a rollcage (which is the only indicator in this pic that it may be a hardcore model) - so that reasoning is out.

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

Hm, in the first pic, it looks like a smiling "sally carrera" type car to me. Hate that happy look. In the last pic (of the car on the NoS), it looks a lot better. Stupid, because it seems to be the same design... *puzzled*

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

Yes,the Tiptronic radiator fills the center opening and looks very much like that shown in the photo.

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

Thanks for posting Porsche-Jeck, I think the 3rd protected centre radiator confirms Cayman with PDK. Pity no interior shots were taken - to see buttons on the steering wheel!

dreamcar, I placed an order, couldn't resist..

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

Yes Porsche-Jeck, the 3rd radiator used in the Tiptronic S models fills the whole of the middle space in the front apron. It's like the 3rd radiator used in the X51 Carrera S Powerkit on 997 models I suppose.

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

When is it the FL supposed to come out?

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

March 09 is the unofficial word from various OPCs

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

    Thanks for the answer

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

i cant even spot the differences

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

those are new rims in that first picture btw!!

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

    New photos:

I think pre-facelifted looks more aggressive...

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

Thanks for posting guys. I guess only about 6 weeks until the L.A. auto show. Those new taillights are so wrong, hope it looks better in person.

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

I like the front end, but I must agree that the rear taillights are not so hot.

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

I'm already bored with the looks of the Cayman, but this makes it even worse. Don't get me wrong, it's a great car to drive (on the track).

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

The guys over at Cayman Club are really, really unhappy: link

It's practically unanimous over there too, 320hp and LSD will be fun, but aesthetically just about every newly designed element is awful.

Re: more FL-pics - more questions...

I liked a lot the first gen. design and I'm surely going to like this one even more..as usual this update it's not a revolution and i don't see all those changes outside..it gets DFI with more hp and LSD instead!!
