    Re: RS5 new spy shots

    Hmmmm...
I really don't know if I'm loving the design direction of Audi's sedans lately. I understand trying to distguish themselves from BMW & Merc, but it's beginning to look a little too "Asian" for my tastes.

Perhaps it's because most Asian/mainland China makers are hiring lots of Germans/europeans to enable their cars to look more like MBZ/BMW/Audis . The Japanese resisted longest until they couldn't take the continued criticism that their domestic market cars were all being designed by the folks that make the " Hello Kitty " toys . So for example when folks on car boards now say a new MBZ looks like the rear of a Hyundai , the Hyundai folks are high -fiving each other and saying mission accomplished.

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

IMO, Audi are spot on with their designs of late. Yes, some of them may look too similair to one another but atleast they arent painful to look at. The B8 A4, A5, R8, RS6, S8 all look fantastic not forgetting that they have the best looking interiors in their market.

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

yes, but where is the "wow" effect? Everyone with a bit of audi RS knowledge knows exactly how the new RS5 is gonna look : typical bumper, flared arches, 2 tailpipes and a diffuser. Although Audi produces one of the finest cars, stylingwise they are boring me to death.

Aggressive bumper, flared arches, oval tailpipes.....Beautiful.

I dont think that mule above will look anything like the production RS5.

Besides complaining about conservative design on porsche forum? I'd never thought i'd see the day

Kerso...Feel free to enlighten us about the RS5 (or TTR) at any time

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

Love the 5 series, even the base models look great. The car has such presence on the road.

Reckon the RS version will look great, and if they can get it anywhere near the RS4 in terms of dynamics they will have a winner on their hands.

Also reckon that the final product will look very different to this mule.

The difference with porsche, my friend, is that they don't produce entry level diesel 911. The road is littered with diesel audi's S-lines that look just like the real deal. The design for a 911 doesn't need to break bounderies, it's unique.

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

Yep - one for me please. Perfect GT car - all season traction, lovely lines, and a bit of a raw performance edge when you want it.

The announcement that the RS5 will debut in Detroit confirms (as does my local dealer) that the car will be in NA late 2009 - early 2010. So... I'm first in line. Bit of a wait, but the best things come...

Audi do make entry models (which include diesesls). True. But to any car enthusiaist the S-lines are clearly not the real deal just as the M-sport packages are not the M cars for BMW. The distinctive RS designs (flared arches/brushed silver mirrors/aggressive front etc) are necessary and welcome to distinguish that high performance line and most RS enthusiasts would be quite dissappointed, me included, if RS cars did not share similar design traits.

as for Porsche not making diesel/entry models....where do you think this expanding model line up is going?

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

We're among enthousiast here, Seraphim, we can differentiate an S-line from the real deal. The general public however can't, and I can't blame them if you see the modern audi line-up.

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

This looks more like an s5 to me...

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

    Turbo??

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

    NO.

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

    Thanks Kreso.
    But...seems 2 intercoolers...

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

    ...or oilcoolers?

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

i give to audi the " headlights designer of the decade" award for all its models line headlights... close second in lambo for the LP560 head light

    Re: RS5 new spy shots

    That's a MASSIVE grill!

Looks more like two oil coolers on the sides, and a FMIC (mounted low) in the middle.
