Unlike some claims here 992 will be introduced very soon.
kreso, when will the turbo (S)) be presented? immediately with the carreras?

The 992 could possibly be an engineering marvel. But styling-wise it doesn't look like something fresh and special.
Porsche studio should have added some modernity and "stunning factor" to the 992 whilst keeping the classic profile.
This car will look old by the time it is born. Sorry, I've never thought I would say that about a 911

991 was presented by Porsche on the 21st of August of 2011 and the Frankfurt Motor Show was on the 14th September.
This year Paris starts on the 4th of October.
I´m betting the week of 9th - 15th September for the official presentation.
If sooner, great!

KresoF1:And all 992s will be phenomenal. Just new suspension and gearbox is a huge step forward.
Any further details/hints?

ISUK:Very rough P'shop. It looks like the two central vanes of the engine grille may be used as the high level brake light.
Thanks for the shop. Yes, the central vanes are the 3rd brake light. we already know this for months thanks to the rear leaked picture published in January.
We dont get to see the full design of the rims but appears to be a new design and i like it.

PDK should be 8 speed. 7 power gears and 8th as overdrive. Just that will make new car more alive combined with better low and mid range torque development.

Do you think 8 performance gears in the GT cars or same arrangement?

KresoF1:No, but sooner then before. Think late Spring 2019. Start of sale summer 2019 as MY2020.
And all 992s will be phenomenal. Just new suspension and gearbox is a huge step forward. Only car right now that is interesting from outgoing 991.2 range is GT3 RS.
thanks!!!! for me it will be the pista or the turbo S, depends on the pressure my wife exerts:::)((

PDK-S with 8 performance gears sounds pretty interesting. Add NA high reving engine with mild hybridisation... That should be the recipe. But, that also means long good bye for manual gearbox...

When you say "should be the recipe": does this just reflect your personal desire, a prediction, or there's already been a decision in this direction?
Thanks!

Grant:Saw these photos posted on another forum. I know RC had previously heard that there will be no more NA cars (even special editions). I wonder if this may have changed. I have sort of expected that the Touring version of the GT3 becomes its own Manual-only NA model with the 992 (maybe with 520hp from current RS) and the GT3 stays only PDK and maybe only turbocharged as well (with 550hp or more)?
Thanks Grant!
Great to see the 992 GT3 Touring is already road testing...
...this time there should be a free option to include rear seats!

bluelines:What makes you think / know that it is a GT3 Touring?
Certainly could be a mule for something different, but it has a couple cues (GT3 centerlock wheels, center exhaust and under-body diffuser looks like NA, retractable wing, etc.)

Spyderidol:That blue 992 just does it for me! I must be the only one that really likes the 992's looks. I think it looks purposeful. I like a wide-ish car. To my eye, the stance is much improved.
I don't see that much difference. It looks like a 991 facelift to me. The difference between the 997 and 991 seem far bigger than between the 911 and 992, at least for the exterior design.

Usually the big jump is every two generations, 993 was similar to 964, then the completely new 996, the 997 was based on the 996, then the big jump to the new 991, and now the 992 is based on the 991, so not that big difference exteriorly, the biggest change aesthetically will be on the interior I guess.
Personally, I like most the bigger curves, but do not like the Panamera like rear, nor the cheap black plastic bumper pieces ala Audi Allroad or Ford Ka
