That graph looks quite strange as Kreso says, what's the source?
Here's the official graph for the S4, I'm quite surprised that max torque doesn't arrive until 2900 rpm, I thought the whole point of a supercharger was loads of torque from low rpm. As a comparison the (technically inferior, according to Audi) twin-turbo 335i has max torque from 1300 rpm

Ron's graph is plotted on the Y-axis for torque in British standard units (pound force-feet) rather than in metric (Nm), thus peak torque for the new S4 engine is 440 X .7376 = 325 lb-ft. He was merely comparing curves between old and new S4 powerplants plotted in horsepower and pound-foot units.

Kreso may be able to more accurately answer this one, but I speculate that the torque cap is to stay below the tranny's safety margin and the HP cap is to stay below the engine's safety margin, possibly through a combination of ECU programming of the supercharger and perhaps a wastegate valve?

Your description is pretty good.
All in all there is no big playground for tuning this engine-upper limit is at 360hp/500Nm...

Am i the only one who thinks that they took the flame-surfaced/scalloped side panels off a BMW 1-series and the seats from a pre-MY'08 Aston V8 Vantage?!
I had an Alfa in '02 and they already did look like that. They all borrowed from them.
