    600LT

McLaren Munich had a 600LT for a couple of days. I'm not a big fan of splitter here/fin there, but this car looks amazing and way better than on photos. Unfortunately we had no chance to drive it or even start the ignition. Ordering does not seem to be a big issue though.

I like it, it looks purposeful, probably best in an understated/technical color. I hope it's a success for them.

so do I. Talked to some of the owners and quite some of them use their 570 or 720 as a daily driver, which seems to be  different from other equally expensive cars.

    Re: 600LT

I think the 600LT is going to be a very special car kiss

McLaren is doing its best to make LT synonymous with Porsche GT.  They even seem to offer rollbar and harnesses in US which Porsche do not.  Unfortunately, it costs $7,500 rather than free like in RoW with Porsche Clubsport.

Clubsport isn't exactly free either. You need to buy the optional bucket seats.

Harness bar and 2x harnesses is 10k here ;-)

Think I will hope to pick up a used one at some point. I reckon they will build a lot.

The Senna seats and rollbar are not available for the 600LT yet, but the rollbar/harness can be retrofitted for the standard bucket seats (which I found very comfortable)

Good point, I only included one harness.  With 2 it's $9k (before tax)...

I am attaching the US Options price list, in case anyone is curious

It's amazing how fast McLaren develops new cars. First I thought its a pimped up 575, but apparently, it is much longer.

For me, McLaren is the most innovative and coolest sports cars of this age. Followed by Lamborghini. All others are still developing cars like in the last Millenium. You still find very old-fashion chassis and designs.

    Re: 600LT

Exactly. Porsche and Ferrari come up with new cars every 3 to 4 years. McLaren it feels like it is every year. Amazing.

It is just a pimped up 570, which is a good thing.  It's only longer than a 570 in the way that a GT3 is longer than a Carrera - just longer front splitter and rear decklid/wing.

The motor is identical to the 570 as well - just an exhaust and tune.  But I still love it!

    Re: 600LT

I just wish they would improve their dealership coverage in the US.  I’d love for the 600lt to be my next car, but while there are 3 Porsche dealerships within an hour of me, the nearest McLaren dealer is 6+ hours away.   That and the complete lack of support for any independent mechanics makes the lack of nearby dealers even worse.

Nevertheless, starting to see a fair number of 720s showing up in the area.  I keep begging my Porsche dealer principal to pick up a McLaren franchise if possible...

lars, why do you think that lambo is so innovative, compared to, say, ferrari? mclaren yes, but lambo?

    Re: 600LT

    NA engines, ALA, design language.

Ferrari seem to have lost their way with the regular 488 in comparison to the 720 for example. The Pista is a good try. 812 other than the engine also seems a little last in the design.

lars, why do you think that lambo is so innovative, compared to, say, ferrari? mclaren yes, but lambo?

Good question. I agree that the McLaren is another level of going forward. However, Lambo was not noticeable until Audi was going in. They have always been a step or two behind. Today they set the line in the way of design - each new Lambo is totally evolutionary. They bring 3D shapes, trying new things in sense of look and feel of the car. Also in regards of technology. The Performante ALA active aerodynamics is super innovative. Ferrari on the other side, The 488 is still a pimped up Modena 430 and looks already old to me (same like 9996, 997, 991, 992...). The 812 superfast is arguably the fastest car out there, however, the F12 didn't look any worse not even that much different. I miss the innovation, the "making things different" approach.

I just saw a great youtube series of a German Car-Tuner. Not sure if you can understand German, but it pretty much sums up my thoughts. Watch all 3 parts, especially the one where they are driving to the Ferrari Museum.

My personal verdict: Lambo vs Ferrari is a bit like Audi vs Fiat - I think that says all.

Ooh, so it really is good then kiss

My dealer also mentioned he’d had a chance to drive it last weekend and was very enthusiastic. Might pop in for a chat tomorrow.

    Re: 600LT

Had a chat this morning and went over the options list.. turns out if you want 6-point harnesses then you need the harness bar (7240CHF), super lightweight a.k.a. Senna seats (7300CHF) and the harnesses themselves (1750CHF) - so the total for these comes out at 16'290CHF.  Not sure why the standard buckets don't support it - perhaps they only work with 4-point.

The salesman did say he actually preferred the standard buckets - which I also found very comfortable and supportive.

They don't look comfortable, but everyone who tried them said they are very comfortable.  Conversely, everyone who tries the Lambo buckets say they are torture...

    Re: 600LT

Heh, interesting.. all the reviews so far seem to be overwhelmingly positive..

Bit of a conundrum.. get in now to secure a 600LT, or miss out on that in the hope of an allocation from a possible second batch of RS in (maybe) January or so..?  vote now..

To me they are 2 different cars tbh.

Deep down inside you want the RS anyway, don't you ? kiss

Here's my suggestion : Wait for the RS, if the second batch doesn't come, buy a 600LT used. McL's depreciation is nasty btw.

I wasn’t looking for sensible suggestions! indecision smiley

You’re right of course... I want to think the LT values will hold up better than 570s, but I have a sneaking suspicion most of the Sport Series they make in the next year will be 600s..

I really wanted an RS this year. Next year it is (a bit) less attractive, due to it being the old model and having a filter. If you put both in front of me now, I’d probably still take the RS though.
