    SLEEK

These pictures are very recent of this black/black 928 gts. They show how well porsche got this design. No gimmicks, no chrome, just a beautiful, timeless design that still looks modern when compared to new exotics.

It's proportions and curves look good from any angle. It will still give the same impression 20 years from now.

11 Like the brake says PORSCHE and for this one there is no substitute.

    Re: SLEEK

Agree with you that the 928 looks timeless.

My brother had a 928S4 at one time in automatic. Drove it for a few times, but felt that the car was very heavy. 911 is more fun to drive.

The S4 auto was geared at 2.2 for gas milelage and programed to start off in 2nd gear from a stop. You would have to trigger the kickdown to over ride that. That and unfamiliarity with the car would explain that "heavy" feel.

That heavy feel is a big plus in the triple digits on the highway.

This thread was primarily about design but I will repeat what I have said before, I have driven 997 and other 911's and I have driven a Stradale, they do not compare in sound and feel to my euro 928. But they are all fun to drive.

    Re: SLEEK

the 928 is certainly a great machine. So unique and modern and full of technology.

Great pics thanks for sharing. Always enjoy seeing pics of your 928! cheers.

    Re: SLEEK

Beautiful 928! Would you happen to have any interior pics?

    Re: SLEEK

Thanks racerx for this fantastic pics. What a great car - timeless .

    Re: SLEEK

How about the spare tire and the factory battery powered inflator. Where do they keep those on the 997?

    Re: SLEEK

All the above from the same gts, this from another in equal condition.

    Re: SLEEK

And this because it's my favorite interior shot of a back seat in a well done 928.

You and AtZ are very welcome.

See Misha, that's what the real porsche is capable of. Beautiful inside and out, great engineering and incredible craftsmanship. I was hoping the panamera would follow in the 928 footsteps, but i do not see how it is possible given the shape.

No LED's on a 928, no crazy inlest/outlets, nothing trendy. Just a great shape.

Thing is it is more impressive in person to the eye because the curves are so subtle and the car so low and wide. Everyone who see's it likes it.

I almost forgot, flipping on the headlights is SO cool and they always get so much attention from passengers in other vehicles.

    Re: SLEEK

Shearing your oppinion what Porsche is capable of , I still beleive that my 'cocoon theory' will proof right. Porsche A.G. is too good to make a silly car . Never did.

    Re: SLEEK

The 928 certainly is a great car, lots of effort and achievement in there. Still I would have a hard time choosing between one of Porsche's icons on the used car market. The 911 has that maturity and lots of character, the 928 more elegant and subtle. Any aspects to look out for, out of your experience? Apart from a properly maintained timing belt, that is...

By the way, Porsche certainly didn't use decals on their calipers.

    Re: SLEEK

    Thanks X; you gota keeper!!!

    Re: SLEEK

Ohhhhhhh Yeahhhhhhhhh! I Looooooooove the 928!

Oh..., Just for fun here's a comp. I have on file:

The only thing to look out for is on the automatics (the majority are, and it works) you have to check for Thrust Bearing Failure TBF once a year by looking at the flex plate on the flywheel/torque tube connection. If any tension release the clamp and re tighten. TBF can kill an engine.

Otherwise they are close to in destructable. A maintained engine should go 275K miles no problem, many have done more! Rust is not an issue as so much of the body and structure are made from Aluminum, and the rest specially treated steel.

Guys this black one is not mine. My 928 is meteor metallic, but in just as good shape. Plus mine has a custom all stainless dual exhaust that sounds un-real.

Did you think i had a GT, a diablo, and an amg as kickabout daily drivers?

If i did, they would be the daily drivers as my 928 only sees 2000 miles/year.

    Re: SLEEK

    how about Cobalt?

    Re: SLEEK

This car is so amazingly beauty.

    Try to imagine:

    - new clear glass optic lights
    - LEDs but in same shape for the rear
    - modern rims (like on that picture with the Cobalt)

    for the interior

    - soft painted plastic instead this hard-plastic

I tell you, this car would be right away sellable. The design is still trendy and hits the line of the current decade.

I miss that car, it was the one brought me become a Porsche fan as I was a kid. I guess I would buy one right away!

    Re: SLEEK

That is one clean car, I haven't seen anything like it. It grows on you the older you are. At first you are a 911 man, then a 356 man, then a 968 man and then a 928 man.

At least that is what is happening to me at the moment, all in the span of the last 18 years.

The only thing that looks really out of place to my eyes is the shifter for the auto box. Besides that I love it!

    Re: SLEEK

    Wonderful car.

I went to the UK motorshow the year of its launch and loved the shape then then and it still looks great now. Shows how the Panamera could have looked with more style and care.
