    I am having a difficult time with that one. The last of the GT1's may be the best, but the new engine may prove to be better, with better claimed mid-range, throttle response and more power. I have a MY2009 reserved for a possible build, but want to wait for the 2010. Just can't decide. All any of us can do is speculate.



    You won't feel the difference in power with an extra 20bhp! You will however feel the difference in your wallet as Porsche continue to increase the base prices each MY.

    You also need to hope that Porsche don't make the Turbo sound like a vacuum cleaner again, or there will be little you can do about it as the extra torque released by an aftermarket solution will probably put your PDK clutch past it's 700Nm limit ...and who knows what will happen to the engine if you try to properly aftermarket tune it!

    I might have expressed myself a bit clumpsy. The crest used to have some structure, now it does not. Its the same on the facelift Carreras.

    EPA and CARB certification issues. But dealers are pissed as they have turbo customers with cars sitting for weeks, and PCNA has said very little.     eric-a couple questions. if the 997tt is the same in 2009 engine wise as 2008 and 2007, why all these certification issues? also, i would think that the porsche engineers would take care of any issues during/before production-how could they possibly build them and ship them without making sure that they are ready for sale?

    Agreed, you won't feel an additional 20hp on a 480hp, 3500 lb car; even if we're lucky to get 30hp/510, it really won't feel any faster, imo. But, with that said, I'll take more ponies if they're offering them. Also, if the new engine offers marginally better fuel economy (DI), better throttle response, a broader mid-range, 12lbs. less weight slung lower in the chassis, etc, all the better.

    I am also hoping that PAG recognizes the competition and offers SPASM on the MY2010 turbo along with some other wheel offerings.

    I am not concerned about modding the turbo, other than Tubi, Europipe or AWE mufflers. And, I'll likely stay with a 6 speed.

    I am optimistic that the 997.2 turbo will be a step forward like the NA 997.2 is compared to the 997.

    eric-i spoke with a different dealer today who claims that they should be released monday, but i am sure that is an estimate. all in all, this is not much of a problem. they will obviously be released soon enough-things could be worse. i wonder how many turbo coupes they plan on making in 09 for u.s. consumption?
