Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you can

It is funny in a country where every id1ot can buy a gun and potentially kill whoever is in his way, to limit the speed of cars to save lives!

IMO they should ban unhealthy food and junk food that causes obesity and a variety of diseases to an even greater number of people especially in the full-fat US, before they tackle the issue of cars.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you can

I think the gt-r solution is the best. Only when the car's gps detects its at a race track, thunder birds are GO!

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you can

The world would be a much better place if we would just ban idiots from driving.

Exactly. And while they're at it, why not ban the sale of cigarets and any alcohol stronger than 3% - that stuff can kill you too. Oh, and let's ban the use of bar soap in the shower, if that thing lands on the floor there's no telling what could happen... *Morons*

    lol, i agree with that

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

Stupid BS. Why's a Chairman of SK cancer center writing propaganda like that? He should STFU.

I'd feel sooooooo much safer if every car on the road had the HP and 75mph top speed of a friggin' minivan!

Let the epidemic of hysterical road rage begin!

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

No one would buy them is they couldn't enjoy the car now and then and not on a track. I doubt I would.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

Relax...it'll never happen! Market forces will prevail.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

Geez! Where do you draw the line?

    Seatbelts.

    Padded dashboards.

    Crumple zones.

    Airbags.

    DWI crackdowns.

    When will it end?

I mean how many lives need to be saved and in how many ways?

How about posting a national highway speed limit of forty MPH and making alcohol illegal again?

THEN making cars with 75mph top speeds makes sense too.

Heck..., maybe it's cheaper to save EVEN MORE lives to fully fund research for cancer and make fatty fast foods and partially-hydrogenated oils and tranfats illegal.

Nobody cares about the lives (what's the death toll for _kids_ in Africa today?); they just want sure-fire emotional issues to get a self-rightous following, more money and gain political power.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

OK, also need to ban cigarette's (they cause cancer and serve no purpose), need to ban chocolate (only makes you fat), need to ban alcohol (serves no purpose but makes you drunk), we also need to ban individual rights and all freedom of choice...bla bla bla. Just amazing that someone so smart is so dumb.

The cynic in me tells me that, in the real world, the idiots would end up deciding who would be banned form sitting behind the steering wheel.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you can

I guess some of us "idiots" would rather NOT put our family's personal protection into the hands of the government!

This speed limit example is one of the reasons I despise the "nanny" state, where well meaning authoritarians have lots of ideas on how YOU should live your life!

You know, a place where smoking is bad, because of health concerns, but homosexuality is promoted and endorsed as just another life style choice even though its practitioners on average have a much shorter lifespan than smokers!

We have a saying that I will clean up for all concerned, " I can go out with your sister, but you can't go out mine."

That in a nutshell is the mantra of all knowing educated urbane leftist elites.

That's because only idiots seem to run for office. Must be some correlation.

Yeh, and then they wonder why so few voters turn up for the polls.

    Oooops, this isn't the off-topic board ..........

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

Saving lives? Not quite. The issue is between the car mfgrs' and the insurance companies' special interest groups over the oodles of money at stake.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

Now now now without idiots who don't know how to drive, people who drink to much, and then have ready access to firearms people like me would be out of work. So let's just all calm down a bit. Do the lot of you want me out on the unemployment line?

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

    hahah right on the money!

I agree, there's too many idiots out there (US being a cluster of them but that's beside the point).

The point is how can we make money off of these idiots such that i have a Carrera GT in my driveway by the time im 30!

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

tie him into the passenger seat of the cgt at the ring with wr driving in a lousy mood.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

Hey, if that's the case - why can passenger planes go supersonic but are told to fly at only 500mph?

Why can the Acela do 150mph safely, but is told to run a 90-120mph.

Pedal bikes can have no more than say 2 speeds.

    Let's limit everything...

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you can

What I believe you all are missing is WE are in the minority. Most people would not object to cars limited to maximum speeds. Cost of cars will go down in many ways..fuel, MSRP, insurance, maintenance and so on.

Those who want to track their cars can buy cars exclusively for track use.

BTW this issue differs from smoking, chocolates and other evils because speeding in a car not only places the driver in danger but those on the street around him/her.

But the costs are borne by society as a whole will the argument so it's the same argument made by many nanny state supporters. Increased healthcare costs for the obese leading to trans fat regulations and taxes. Second hand smoke regulations and the misguided Mississippi lead settlement which was based on bogus economics about recouping healthcare costs. Seat belt requirements to save us from ourselves are all based on the greater "societal" good. Much like how this argument will be based.

Are you guys really going to listen to a guy named "Kent A. Sepkowitz"?

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

99% cocao chocolate is rich in antioxidants and is actually good for health.

    http://www.keacher.com/?p=388

The 99% chocolate was an experience of purity. No chemical aftertaste. No waxy mouthfeel. Nothing to distract from the singular cocoa focus.

To compare the 99% bar with a Hershey's dark bar would be to insult the Lindt creation, for they exist not in the same realm. Whereas the Hershey's bar is overtly bitter and artificial, the 99% cocoa is soothing and natural. Neither are very sweet, but while the Hershey's bar longs for sugar, the Lindt imparts an air of balance in its lack.

I sampled the 85% and 99% bars in turn several times, exploring different consumption techniques and speeds. All methods were enjoyable in their own ways.

After consuming just three squares of the 99% bar, I felt it was time to bring the experience to an end. The richness of the chocolate was leaving me satiated, and I didn't want to waste either bar when I was not in the proper mindset for full enjoyment of the act.

If you get the opportunity to try high-quality, high-purity chocolate, I recommend that you indulge. If nothing else, you will gain a new appreciation for the rift between American commodity chocolate and what is possible from the world's elite chocolatiers.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

Mmmm. Lindt. I prefer their 70% cocoa blend, but that's just me.

Re: It is only a matter of time. Enjoy while you c

dark chocolate M&M's , the best
