    Next week on Fifth Gear

    Should be interesting/entertaining:

Bruno Senna in Nissan GTR v Porsche 911 Turbo.

Tiff and Jason in Lexus ISF v M3 saloon.

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

    Sounds great!

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

Last nights was awful... Who is the new guy? Complete [beep], annoyed me so much I switched it off!

Will be tuning in for the GTR Turbo though.

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

Let me know when it's on YouTube. We don't get 5th Gear on this side of the pond.

In that case, I hope for your sake that you did not even switch on Sunday night's episode of Top Gear .
The "competition" between the 3 very-used Alfas was the televisual equivalent of watching people searching through garbage dumpsters for food.

Couldn't agree more Rich. The new guy, Tim Shaw, is truly awful. He has worn the same pair of jeans (pointed out by my other half as she hates him too) for all three episodes thus far and in every filmed piece he's done as well. Now that she's pointed it out even his ridiculous trousers annoy me Can't get over how he is trying to make himself look young and trendy when he clearly is anything but

His piece on UK road tax this week was pathetic. He was seriously advocating not buying a Pounds15k Golf over a Pounds15k Citroen because it would cost Pounds90 a year more in road tax even though he stated the Golf was the better car Great choice of presenter Fifth Gear....... NOT!!!!

If this is indeed true, it should FINALLY shut the GT-R haters up...

It has been established already that the GT-R scores better results than the 997 Turbo in the context of tests.

    Reasons:
The TT is not the best Porsche made and it is not the best Turbo ever.
The GT-R is the newer car with better AWD technology and the benefit of TwinClutch transmission.
The GT-R has more power and more optimum weight distribution.

These facts will not make everybody love the GT-R and reject the Porsche. Most people who expressed intention to buy one are doing it because it is the "car of the day" and they want to have the new thing or because it is a good value for money.

If consumers bought according to what the journalists say or write the automotive landscape would be much different. For example british magazines love any Ford there is, whereas people(not fleets) buy VW or BMW products.

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

I agree - Tim Shaw was dreadful. He is obnoxious, smug and loves himself - only god knows why... yes, his UK road tax segment was just cr*p. He actually thinks the kind of people who watch Fifth Gear (i.e. viewers with an above average level of interest in cars and motoring) would actually choose their next car according to some small differences in road tax?

How idi*tic! The differences in road tax he was talking about (say Pounds100-150) is basically around 2-3 weeks worth of petrol for most people i.e. the cost difference is just marginal.

People obviously focus much more on how good a car is to drive, how well made it is, how well it will hold its resale value, how well it suits their individual needs etc etc before choosing a car to buy... NOT which will save a really small amount of road tax.

    From the Fifth Gear website...

"Although Tim is best known as a radio presenter on Virgin and Kerrang, his real passion is cars. He studied Automotive Transport Design at Coventry University, and he joins the Fifth Gear team as the official "people's champion", tackling all the issues that wind petrol heads RIGHT up."

Well he'd better do an article on himself as he is the biggest thing winding petrol heads up on the show now!

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

isn't the Turbo faster in a straight line? If so the GTR's obvious advantage is in the handling dept what with it's Bilstein Damptronics. Guess what I am having fitted in a few weeks?!

Ha ha ha Cracking comments gents... They guy is truly awful and will no doubt be binned at the end of the series... I think he annoys me even more than the bizarre relationship that Butler Henderson and Tim (I know nothing about cars) Lovejoy shared last year... That was just embarrassing

Really amazes me how Fifth gear try to re-invent themselves every series... Look, all I want is a car show that shows me the latest cars and also covers a few car related topics... A little bit of drifting from Tiff and that's me done!
They try way too hard to be Top Gear mark II...

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

Yep, cut out the Tim and Tom "in da house" show and give us more Tiff and Jason Plato testing cars. And please, please move away from Millbrook. It's a bit embarrassing to see the tiny performance handling track being used to set lap times. It's too short and narrow to give any sort of useful comparison data. It would be much better to time the cars over the Alpine circuit as this is more akin to real world driving on a twisty A road. I'd rather see the show go back to the original half hour slot and cut out the useless filler pieces from the very odd Jonny Smith.

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

don't miss today's fifth gear, it's going to be very interesting

Atually I have the last 4 episodes... and guess waht? He worn the same jeans in all of them....

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

The result of the track battle between GTR and 911 turbo is in - as driven by Bruno Senna. Not much in it, but GT-R wins.

To continue this subject of his jeans... hehehhe. I have just got the 5th episode and gues what? This guy still wears the same jeans!!!! I thing he will go togheter with the show in the guiness book of records, as the guy who wore most times the same jeans on a tv series..... 5th gear somebody buy him some new jeans please!!!

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

Now that's the definition of 'low budget' .

Re: Next week on Fifth Gear

Maybe the Fifth Gear wardrobe department is somewhat lacking for choice?
