Beautiful color, I like it much more than Lapis. Too bad it's so expensive.

The "special"colors are $3K. Most guys pay the $800 for the metallic anyway, so the sspecial colors are really "only" $2200 more.

Re: Cobalt Blue? not that much more...

For me the car looks great, but not a lot like this color.

So - maybe if you want to have a stable price on the car and lots of buyers after a couple of years.... I wouldn't take it!

Do you prefer Lapis or Midnight? I can't believe a blue in general is bad for resale and the other Porsche blues don't compare in my mind.

    absolutly agree....

Been thinking; stick with "usual colors"

The "odd" colors don;t do much for the car except convice the owner that his "favorite" color is a great choice.

I mean look at chevys and minivans, they come in burgandy, light blue, bright green: all totally ARBITRARY color choices. These cars are a joke so any color will do.

Gotta get color which are in accord with the 911: sharp, sexy, racy, elegant, serious, sculptural.

    Not whimisical, disney-land, "aren't-I-special-with-my favorite-color-choice."

Look at the color chips: at first glance there's really not much to choose from, that's fine because the car isn't a circus prop.

    Just my opinion.

    Re: Cobalt Blue?

My only recommendation is you should definitely see Cobalt blue in person, believe me I pre-ordered my GT3, went from ASilver to Cobalt then back to ASilver after I saw a GT3 in Cobalt I saw what others had told me "there is a purple, violet hue that comes through" and right they were. From pics and internet sights, the color looks stunning, but for some reason, when you see it on the GT3, the car look a little "Match Box" for my taste. Color is a personal decision, this is just my 2 cents. Good luck on whatever you decide, I'm sure you will love your Porsche!

Oh I get it now, I haven't seen Cobalt in person so I didn't know about the purple hue. It just looked so nice in the pictures, where Lapis looks too dark and Midnight looks even darker. Now I'll take my GT3 in White please , and save the 3k for European seats and corsa tires.

MaxErnst: I agree that the metallics better be tasteful otherwise it is a bit arbitrary and like a hot wheels car as others have said. However, I still think the old solid IROC colors are great and have always thought a Mexico Blue car would be very special. I guess if it's going to be weird, choose a historically weird color that you could at least explain.

    Re: Cobalt Blue?

I saw a Cobalt 996TT at the $tealer; it looked pretty awesome to me! Of course, it is probably a more "emotional" choice, so a different buyer might be needed on the used-car market for this color as compared with the "standard" colors, but it sure looked cool, especially on the Turbo.

I don't wanna upset anybody with my suits/clothing.

Also don't wanna alienate anybody here with my opinions, sorry.

The 911 is a SERIOUS car, most guys have no choice but to pick the serious colors. Check the color chart and see how "dull" the choices really are.

IOW, when I buy suits I don't pick cloth that is a joke, I basically get to pick color/pattern/texture in a very limited range.

Same thing for the 911, I would be real careful about an off-beat color.

Boxster: anything goes I think... .

    I dunno why... .

    Dont' confuse Cobalt with Zenith

Cobalt is definitely a bright blue, no doubt about it but it doesn't have any purple hue. Zenith will look very similar to Cobalt in pictures but side by side you definitely notice the purple in Zenith.

Re: I don't wanna upset anybody with my suits/clothing.

As I have said before, dull colours are the "standard" metallics so you are encouraged to pay silly money for the "specials". I wouldn't on principle, as much as I like Cobalt blue and Polar silver. Any colour for a Boxster? In speed yellow it looks like a banana on wheels!
