Paulo , you are on the ball kiss Yes, no surprises . All repeats itself . We have come to know that Porsche does not have surprises  , at least on the non limited cars

    Gnil:

The car is getting way  too big surprise 991.1 is already too big .

I would probably take an Alpine instead as a DD around city

I agree, I think 997 had the correct size for a modern day 911.

That said, I do like the general shape of the 992, nice hips/arches.

    Re: Porsche 992 Thread Closed

The 997 (especially the .2 generation) is a classic 911 design alongside the pre-safety bumper early 70s cars and the 993. It is very well proportioned, not XL for a sportscar  but without looking diminutive alongside modern cars.

Its size and handling are ideal for B-roads and hill/mountain twisty routes. It is a B-road king.

It misses out in very high speed stability (220km/h+) compared to the newer 911s, but such things are generally irrelevant, even in unrestricted Germany I suspect.

I've had mine for 10 years now from new and I will never part with it. GT-silver, PDK, mechanical LSD, Sport exhaust, Sport apron and the sweet riding and handling 19" wheels.

All cars during the 964, 993 era have all grown in size F288,355,430,458, Mercedes 300SL gullwing etc... so I see nothing wrong with the size of the 991 or 992. I cant imagine a modern P car in the size of the 964, it will look completely out of place Smiley

All the people complaining abt the size of the 991/992 on this thread own or have owned F-cars, Astons, SL's etc so I don't se what the fuss is about Smiley

    Re: Porsche 992 Thread Closed

A 488, or even the 458 for that matters, is a giant car, stupidly wide.

My Aston Vantage on the other hand, is comically small compared with a 991. Doesn't look like it in pictures or even in person, but it is shorter and just about the same width, my garage is lined with 1'x1' tiles so the length and width difference is quite apparent, especially when parked side by side.

    Re: Porsche 992 Thread Closed

As the 911 grows, it is also becoming more GT, less sports car at every iteration.  As it becomes more GT, it is less and less the “car for B roads”.  As it is less and less a car for B roads, it can then get larger, as for motorways the size is not really anymore a negative.  It all fits into the 911 evolution, at least the one being followed now.

Actually, I like the current 991.2 Carrera GTS most. It is perfect in my opinion. Size, shape, everything.

The 992 is also very nice, especially from the back but the front is not my cup of tea, I assume we get a better one with the facelift (this time probably the other way around, back stays almost the same, front changes).

New analog tach looks nice (but redline comes too soon).  You also get a view of the exterior design on the TFT display...

So the car is driving 3 kph - maybe rolling away after test driver forget to set the parking brake? Smiley

Here´s the final rear shape! Also, the car appears to running a Portuguese/Spanish Software.

It says something along like Ajustes de Condução (Portuguese) or Ajustes de Condicion (Spanish) wich is Driving Settings in English.

    Re: Porsche 992 Thread Closed

The picture above could very likely be a controlled "leak" - how would an outsider achieve such a picture without glare from the side window or being asssaulted by the driver?

Come on, the explanation is obvious!

    Re: Porsche 992 Thread Closed

the angle does seem to be from inside the cockpit, hard to imagine someone sneaking in that shot without getting in trouble with the driver.

Also the shape of the rear looks really good on that graphic.

    Re: Porsche 992 Thread Closed

I dont know how he did it.

What i do know is that the picture was posted on instagram by, lets say, (no offense to the guy) a pretty regular joe with some  2000 followers and has about 20 Porsche pictures in a collection of about 180 photos.

    He also posted this one.

The new analog style (for me it looks diferent than the current one in Panamera and Cayenne) remembers me a bit of the 918 spyder style.

I like the dashboard a lot. Analogue rev counter looks cool, and all the digital stuff looks well-integrated - all with a bit of an air of classic 911

If the display screen Sport Exhaust icon is touch sensitive, could voice control.be far behind?

That`s Porsche Marketing leaking, in a controlled manner,  the pictures in my opinion .  That guy driving the 992 must have signed tons of NDAs before even sitting in it.

    Re: Porsche 992 Thread Closed

If it is a photoshop, it is pretty well made.

Cant say Im thrilled at all of the rear in this image, looks plain and ordinary, sedan like, probably its a bad angle or due to the stupid obsession with making all the models look the same in the rear.
