I don't think they 20" rims help the 997's appearance. It's WAY too bling-bling, a phenomenon that should be left to the Escalades and Yukons (cars that I don't care about anyway). On a Porsche, those rims just look out of place.
Although I think the 20" are excessive I would like to see some other 20" rim styles and compare. The rims on that car just stand out too much, takes away from the rest of the car.

There are 2 issues here: taste and performance.
1 - Taste is personal - I personally think they are gawdy.
2 - Performance - they are probably heavier than 19"/18" rims and, as such, will negatively impact unsprung weight. Just on that basis it should be a no-no for a true P-car driver.
I used to have an E46 M3 sitting on 19" which was big enough, the ride for me was acceptable given my previous car was an Elise 111S. The Cargraphic wheels looks really brutal and too detailed - it needs the simplicity of a Turbo 2 wheels to set the shape off.
