    Re: CGT vs. GT2

good article! Very nice how they explain and compare

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

    Very nice read!

Well written and is to the point, makes perfect sense too.
    Thanxx

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

    Great read.

I wish Porsche would do a (minor) facelift for the CGT, imagine how good it would be with today's know-how!!!

Porsche had some difficulty selling the required number of CGTs to make the necessary profit (by WWs standards). So in today's economic climate I don't think a CGT Mk2 would be a viable proposition.

PAG nowadays, don't like Nissan GTR type of loss leaders. They did that back in the 959 days and they still moan about it.

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

Nice story, i liked this line

"The CGT feels a bit unwieldy on backroads initially, but this fades with time and miles. When it does, the CGT does the 928 thing, shrinking in size and becoming far more tossable than you thought it could."

It seems as though the cgt has lousy tires, one of our members here mentioned that with his, not enough grip.

Surely they could make something which costs half as much to build?! It's not like they have to spend a fortune designing from scratch. They could have a light-weight body and stick in the MR6 engine from an RS Spyder (500+ BHP 3.4L V8).

My wallet would fly open for such a car!

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

Very nice but CGT is the king of Porsches IMHO and in a different league.

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

    King of Porsches??? GT1!!!

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

It is so true what they say about the limited time that journalists get in press cars.

They often get a very extreme view of the car, faults are extremely highlighted and so are the positives.

Things are slightly different when you've had the car for a few months... small bits if Noise/vibration/hardhness may cease to bother you as the driving experience really takes centre stage...

    What's up with the 3.8 3RS ?

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

I am very certain that there is a Carrera GT successor being developed as we speak. I can't imagine Porsche staying only with the current range and not having a halo car.

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

There will be a RS Spyder based car. Now that its engine has been converted to DI.

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

RS Spyder brings this word to my mind "Lightweight"

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't understand the CGT tire issue. If the technology of the CGT tire is old and outdated, how come nobody comes along and produces a modern tire for it? Surely there's a market...

With 1400 cars produced in all, many totalled and others seeing limited action, I somehow doubt it's economically viable to produce a new tyre...

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

Manufacturers already produce the same type of tire (compound, tread type, etc) in a myriad of sizes and fitments. How hard is it to add another size? Especially when they know they can charge an exorbitant fee for them.

Maybe I'm wrong. I just want to see what the CGT can do with regards to laptimes vs today's supercars on a level playing field.

    Re: CGT vs. GT2

    Michelin PS Cup 345/30ZR19

The owner can downgrade from 20" to 19"

315/25/20 is available at the moment
