Re: New Lotus EVORA
But such a Cayman will cost at least 15 more.
And still have no back seats to take my son on a ride from time to time. And looks, well , too plain to say it gently.
And I do not need the latest technology to have fun. I want a car that is a blast to drive and inspiring. And it needs to look good.
One of the favorite cars in my stable is a '92 964 Targa with 230.000 km's. When the weather is decent I pick it over my 997 turbo.
Remember the days of the 911 G series ? from 74 until 89 it was almost the same car with very little changes. I liked that.
I was young and bought a '76 in '86 and people thought it was a new car. There is something to be said for a long lifecycle of a model.
Some (most?) people want the latest from everything. As soon something new comes along the "old" is history. Not me.
Do not need an I-phone nor want it. I-pod ? Not me I am afraid. Radio in a car and I am happy.
But I think your perception of Lotus is wrong. Their development department is one of the best in the world (not as big as Porsche's but nevertheless well respected). Most what they do is for third parties but I am sure that, given the budget, they could do wonders for the brand "Lotus". And I hope the Evora will be the proof of that.
The car has ESP and all the latest safety features.
Not even the uber-expensive and admired kit car maker Zonda has that. Airbags ? Do not think they know that word.
Still a Zonda is for many the "ultimate super car" yet it is old technology with a twist.
Lotus brings out a new car which looks stunning, is economical , modern and made for a dying breed of "car people" and still for most here it is rubbish by default.
But I can understand this, it's a Porsche forum and most Porsche drivers never liked Lotus.
I have two brands which I always liked, Porsche and Lotus so have to supply a counter perspective
