Such is McLaren ownership. They really don't have that many dealers in the US and quite a lot of people have some decent distance between them and the dealer.

I'd have to go a long way - nothing in Colorado.  Either Texas or Arizona (maybe 1,300km or so)

When the dealer in Munich opened, they had exactly one mechanic and one service employee. Smiley Not even sure there are more people working there right now... Smiley

The idea of having to drive to Munich for every single issue kind of horrifies me, even if it would be a 30-45 min. drive only (depending on traffic). One major reason I always think about selling my Shelby is the distance to the next (capable Smiley) mechanic. Thanks god I found a guy who is very capable and even better, he can do diagnoses over the phone. For everything else, I have an OBD reader and I can send him over the data (error codes, etc.) he needs. Still...if something is really wrong, I would have to drive 200 km. Smiley

So yes, I prefer dealerships in my neighborhood. It not only saves time but nerves as well.

    Fully agree.

Here is Zagreb situation is even worse.

    Mclaren - Munich 600km

Lamborghini or Bentley - Vienna 400km

    Nissan GT-R - Vienna 400km

    Ferrari - Ljubljana 180km

So, Porsche, BMW M, Mercedes AMG that are fully represented locally are only and natural choices. Guy that bought here Mclaren MP4-12C sold it after only 6 months because car had some issues and he was not very pleased with Mclaren support.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

No way would I buy a car from a brand with the next dealership a couple of hundreds of km away. enlightened

Actually, if I knew that the initial dealer I bought my Shelby from sucks that much, I wouldn't have bought it.

People only learn to appreciate a good dealership/repair shop when they have issues with their cars.

FWIW - Porsche gave me the right run-around until they were threatened by the motorcodes ombudsman. Only then did they replace the car.

Sometimes third party intervention is the only way.

True and one reason I won't buy a grey market car anymore which isn't officially available in my country.

I talked to Ford about this and they said they do not care since the car is not officially available in Germany. Simple (for them). Smiley

McLaren 675LT vs Nissan GT-R Nismo (Source: GCF)

    Acceleration:

    0-100: 3,4 / 3,1
    0-120: 4,2 / 4,1
    0-140: 5,0 / 5,2
    0-160: 6,0 / 6,6
    0-180: 7,1 / 8,3
    0-200: 8,6 / 10,2

    0-400 m: 10,7 @ 228 km/h | 11,0 @ 206 km/h
    0-1000 m: 19,0 @ 283 km/h | 20,1 @ 260 km/h

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

GTR Nismo will always be a bargin when it comes down to figure performances, nothing beats this 150K car.

am surprised of Z07's 400m figure.... thought its a lot faster than that....

All 4 cars are to its brand supportors, and each to its own taste, also how deep is ur pocket....

Gt3RS/Nismo/ Z07 seems to be the same price range but 675LT seems double the cost for a little bit better performance.....   like I said.... each to its own taste.....  u want one... don't have it anymore....

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Imagine how fast that GTR would be if it wasn't such a pig...

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

    Is fast. 10.51@ 135mph

    "Had a great couple of hours at Atco today. Managed a best of 10.275 @ 135.21 on a 1.672 60' time. Backed it up with a 10.422 @ 135.4 on a 1.789 60' footer and a couple of 10.5's and 10.6's."

I think it was new to the owner but not new as such given the 14 number plate.

Whenever I pick up a new car, even if I know the car already, I drive pretty slow (run-in period, attention to details, enjoying the new car smell, whatever...). I never understood why some people have to go fast right out of the dealership? yes The result, you can see in those photos... angry

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I took out a McLaren 570S for a test drive this afternoon.. I am impressed! Lovely build quality and the ergonomics, tactility of controls is leagues ahead of Porsche..  The steering was also much more communicative than my GT3's.  Really liked it.. you could easily drive it every day if you wanted - easy access, quiet, refined, but with great feel when you put it in sport mode..

Only thing that was a little disappointing was the engine noise, somewhat muted - although I didn't get to push it hard (too much traffic around, and stupid low speed limits).  Might be better once you get it wound up a bit.  There was a bit of lag, but certainly goes when that passes.  Drove home with the windows down on the GT3.. sorry, but no turbo motor can compete with that noise indecision

Off to play with the configurator a bit I think!

Dave - Have you driven any of the earlier GT3's with hydraulic steering?  Wondering if the 570S steers as well as a 997 GT3 for example?  I think McLaren really did the right thing by using a hydraulic rack with pump driven by an electric motor (best of both worlds).  It would have been so easy for Porsche to do the same in the GT3 and GT4 (still done in the Cup and other 991 race cars).

I would echo your comments on the steering feel  - that is what stood out for me when I drove it. McLaren really seems to have nailed this on the 675LT too. They have come along way in a very short space of time. Iris on the other hand is still a pain.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Yep, was at Schmol. They've got a 570 demo car in a lovely metallic red..

@Grant - yes, I've driven 997.2RS a couple of times. I'd say the 570 steering was better than them, too. Really superb.

I didn't play with the electronics, but thought they had improved the Iris.. Shame they can't get that sorted - you'd think that would be one of the more straightforward bits to get right. The digital dash is really slick though.

I am not surprised. McLaren is taking in the feedback and improves every model that comes out in a big way.
