I just find it difficult to read that some members on this forum talk drama in terms of ‘I’ve been f*cked by Porsche!’ when their car is delayed for some reason. Sure, you can be mad at a dealer for lying to you but telling the world ‘you’ve been bending over with your trousers down’ is just complete misplaced.

I have been given an expected delivery date of November 28th over two months later than I was promised. I honestly wouldn’t have cared had they just told me that from the outset. But to keep changing dates is unacceptable. Another customer from the same dealership was told his WP Gt3 RS wouldn’t arrive until December. He had leather options similar to my car. Yet he was just informed that his car will arrive in San Diego August 19th. My car remains at he factory.

Do Europeans just accept this as normal and bend over a grab their ankles saying the car will come eventually?

Nick, Porsche's tracking system is notoriously bad. Status updates are painfully slow or non-existent.

If one doesn't get humans involved, all will just read what's on the screen.

I had that first hand a few years ago with my 918, basically there was zero updates in the system. it's pretty much a daily phone call or email direct with Germany. All the while the entry in the system stays the same.

But I mean, Porsche have 2 systems, one for the dealer network to track cars, that's the horrible one, another for factory internal usage that has the real time updates. But for some reason the internal system is not updating the dealer network system.

Also remember last year they had 'lost' my 911R on it's way back from Europe? The system show it was 'in transit' only, never got updated until the car shows up one day at the dealership, the computer screen still shows 'in transit' with no location given.

This time with my Turbo S Exclusive, I asked for human intervention, so now I know the car will be loaded onto a boat July 31st and the expected Port of Entry time is Aug 12th. Then however long those bozos at Customs will take and another 10 days for transport from the East Coast to my dealership.

Nick, I have always been aware the Porsche systems are wanting for accuracy. The point I was trying to make which one poster cannot grasp is its one thing for a car to be delayed from the original promised date (which I have experienced) and another when Porsche moves your build and delivery date up and then proceeds two weeks later to delay it further than the original delivery date. To my knowledge my car is the only US car that has been delayed like this.

So should I put my head in a hole and hope for the best or should I demand an explanation to share with fellow posters. I opted for the latter and as they say, "no good deed goes unpunished".Smiley

    It happened like this.

You have a scheduled build date.

Factory have openings early, cause some cars are missing parts or whatever reason that got pulled from their slots. They moved yours up.

Suppliers delivered sub par parts, or wrongly built ones. They had to go back and redo them, hence the extra delay.

Porsche relies a lot on their suppliers to do JIT production line. IF there are any hiccups it mess things up greatly. Most parts are made by outside suppliers, some are made in-house upstairs and downstairs as you know.

One Chris on RT isn’t impressed and he has been a credible source when it comes to all things Porsche. If others feel the same, I may not take the car and keep the .2 GT3.

there was a small gap on perf only on .1 from 991 series. GT3 and RS were always closed in term of perf while the RS gets all the exotic material and the look. Smiley

if you listen to others, you will keep buying the last as all fake journalists are invited to test them everywhere and they all say the same about all cars in general. Smiley

The only consideration for me would be that the 992 is right around the corner and we know little about it. For all we know the new 911 S will toast a 991.2 gt3rs. It has happened in the past.  The chance to drive a ‘free’ gt car only lasts so long and the new model can cut that very short.

    When did that happen in the past?  There are 3 generations of GT3 RS (996, 997, and 991).  Did the 997.1S toast a 996RS?  Or a 991.1S toast a 997.2RS (3.8 or 4.0)?  I don't think so...

Not arguing that progress will come and today's fastest will not be tomorrow's fastest.  But another interesting thing is that all 3 of those RS's are worth lots of money (some well more than when new), but all of those Carrera/S models have depreciated steeply.  Seems that having an obsolete RS is better than having an obsolete Carrera/S Smiley

Christian, you overestimate Trump by far. He lacks education and skill. Today he got screwed badly SmileySmileySmiley

Markus, emotions and politics don't mix well, same goes to economics and emotions.

I bet back in the days, you were anti-Reagan as well, I still remember the anti-Reagan rhetorics in the media (and even in school, my religion teacher threw me out of class because I spoke out for Reagan...), not much different of the current anti-Trump media campaign.

One of my childhood friends, he is a well known journalist in Germany, wanted to throw me out of his Facebook group because I justified Trump's actions. His boss, he is the editor in chief of one of the biggest German political magazines, told him to keep me inside since this is part of a democratic process. As you can see, you aren't the only one being emotional about Trump but I have to admit that I don't get it. For me, politics is an important part of life but nothing to be emotional about as long as it doesn't threaten my life. If you think that Trump threatens your life, you clearly have perception issues. I remember however that when Reagan was around, some people in Europe compared him with Hitler as well. As a history buff as I am, I was quite shocked but nowadays I see/read the same comparisons with Trump. There is not even a hint of similarities but of course the media always finds a way to see a connection. My journalist friend accused me of reading Breitbart because of my beliefs bit funny enough, Breitbart is something I would never really read. Same goes to crap like RT and others... I watch/read the major news outlets and just THINK. You can agree or not but unlike you and others, I'm not a sheep, I do the 1+1 myself and don't let others do that for me. Cheers.

not talking politics here, just psychology. trump is, in layman's terms, just mad. no comparison with ronald reagan is valid.

I can assure you Trump is not mad. He may be an egocentric person but madness looks different (this is my field of expertise, not yours Smiley Smiley). Btw: People were calling Reagan a madman as well (remember the Pershings in Germany?) but even more a dumb actor and an idiot, even senile they called him. Now? Look at history books. Smiley

Grant - good point. An RS is always going to be better than an S at holding value even if it is slow, by comparison, to a base model 10 years from now. True but there was a time when GT models weren't really worth much, especially here in Germany. I remember used GT3 models selling for under 50k EUR...incredible. Prices have come down a little bit but GT models are definitely more in demand than regular Carrera models...or the markets are just "flooded" with Carrera models, whatever.

took the car home this afternoon...I have no words.

the car is a huuuuge jump away from the mk1,and I make only 40kms.

the exhaust sounds better, seems more open, when you change gear it pops, and I was under 5k rpm.

The green....well the green is WOW....

Really I was doubtful sometimes when I put down the preorder more than 2 years ago, becouse I think that the mk1 was just so perfect that don’t need to be upgraded...but this one is better,no way.

in the next days I will make some pics, and more impressions of this new miracle from Stuttgart.blush
