    I hear press unveiling for the new Boxster on or about 04 September? Paris show mid September? In which case max one month before we get all the info?

    I was told the 6th of September by my dealer. Had to firm up my deposit last week in anticipation.

    usually 10 % but it depends the dealer and how well he knows you!

    In the UK, Pounds2k initial deposit, then 10% when asked to spec the car.

    in germany it's not usual to pay a deposit on a car, even not on a porsche GT2. only for some super exotics like ferrari some dealers request a deposit.

    So if I order a car and it arrives and I don't want it anymore? What is going to happen? Especially if 10 people do like that? The dealer of course may sell them later on but how much does it cost to him the stock?

    the dealer will set you under pressure to take the car, because you've signed the contract and are comitted to buy it. a friend of mine ordered the SL500 when new some years ago, then he changed his mind and bought another car. when the SL arrived he told his merc dealership that he is no longer interested -- but no chance! they really made him clear that he has to take it, otherwise they would force legal action. of course, he paid and two days later re-sold it himself.

    if e.g. you've gone broke in the meantime... that's another story. but i assume it doesn't happen that often.
