    British F1 Grand Prix

Hi guys - another Grand Prix this weekend - but scheduled at the same time as the Wimbledon Men's Singles Final. Some bright spark wasn't thinking!

Luckily, I can watch F1 on TV and the tennis online so hopefully no problem - just that lots of other people will try to watch online too

Coulthard retiring, Webber staying on at Red Bull, Hamilton saying that he misses his battle with Alonso, Hamilton's dad withdrawing Lewis from a charity triathlon, the never-ending debate about whether the British GP should remain on the F1 calendar (since Silverstone badly needs improvement)...it's all happening

Let's see if McLaren can make a comeback. Time is running out. Ferrari will be very strong this weekend. Massa is on a roll. I love Summer - loads of sport on TV!

    Re: British F1 Grand Prix

Massa has just crashed heavily after Alonso decided that having oil in his engine makes his car heavy and left most of it on the track...

And the Britsh GP is moving to Donington

Guess you have to live in the UK to watch TV in the "summer"

YEp, just seen the news.... >>CLICK<<

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Interesting...I didn't think Donington is any better condition than Silverstone?

Closer to home for me (3.1km to be precise hehe), it was confirmed today that Melbourne F1 GP has been extended to 2015. Woohoo!

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Any bright ideas how I can watch F1 online (not the ITV link in not available outside the UK)

    Cheers,

    Mark

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

It should go back to brands hatch, best track imo.

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Donington got the contract because they are using Herman Tilke to design the refurbishment of the track. BRDC chose to use another designer, no doubt irritating Bernie further. This design choice will ensure that there will be first-class spectator facilities and a bland, character-less circuit with a few signature corners and no overtaking opportunities.

    watch online!?

    The answer is TIVO.

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

    Hekki at Pole!

    Webber was fantastic as well!

Hamilton? He lacks mental stability IMHO...

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Fantastic drive by Hamilton. Glad he found his path again.

BUT, my hero today is Rubens!

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

So glad to see Rubens back on the podium!

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

    Well done LH.

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Raikkonen salvaged P4 after all seemed lost for him. It could make a difference when points are counted at the end of the season.

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Is this another race that shows Alonso's reluctance to be lighter on the loud pedal and not so reliant on traction control.

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Messy and entertaining race, and strange how McLaren and Ferrari seem to take turns at owning eachother at the GPs.
I dont quite get how the difference between the teams and cars can be so huge, but there must be a logical explanation.
Now we have 4 drivers within 2 points of eachother - it doesnt get more exciting than that!

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Btw, what were they smoking at Ferrari when they sent Kimi out on the same rubber after the first pitstop, (and not giving him extremes at the last) when any child could see rain was coming?
They lost the race on that huge frack-up.

Are you talking about Massa or are you Brits still obsessed with Alonso?

Might be mistaken, so if I am, I stand corrected. But was it not Alonso that spun 5 times? I didn't watch the race so I could be totally wrong...

Believe that was Massa. Alonso didnt spin AFAIK.

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Great 4 way fight at the top of the championship... glad Lewis has seemed to find whatever it was he lost over the last few races, but I still think this will come down to a Ferrari fight. Shame Honda had a refuelling issue, had they not Rubens was in 2nd for sure and maybe even a shot at the lead while McLaren were waiting for the weather to play out their strategy.

Great race though, we need a few more of these rather than boring processions

Ahh, my bad. Sorry Alonso. Massa ya cr@p.

Only error of Alonso was to mantain his tyres for the second stop (Alonso's fault and team strategy), that was his only fault, if not, he would have finished 3rd/4th position...

Massa's driving skills in rain are like mines with Biology or Chemistry and all that

Hamilton was in another level, he did something epic today, he put some BIG BA-LLS, overtaking for second time Alonso-Kimi-Barrichello etc....he could have achieved in one second heaven (which he did) or hell (by a simple hit with some of them, while overtaking, instead of relaxing and just saving the entire race, instead of doing what he did), but if I was him driving, i would have done the same, well....tried!!

No matter how good Alonso does things, he will finish 5th-6th-7th or 8th , no help from the team for strategies, and piece of cr-a-p he is driving, makes me feel mad !!!!!

I hope you guys think (the Alonso-haters I mean), if he had a competitive car and I am not talking about a ferrari or mclaren) a bmw for example, he would have been probably leading the championship, this is MATHEMATIC

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Very exciting race and with three tied for the championship, its going to be an exciting second half of the season.

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Excellent race - amazing how a bit of weather starts sorting folks out - driver skill, strategy etc (what planet were Ferrari on leaving the guys on the worn tyres).

Rather than all these new aerodynamic rules etc to improve the racing perhaps it'd be better to introduce some random water sprinklers onto the circuits!!

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Hamilton is the new rain master.

Barrichello's performance was much more impressive, but I understand all the hype around Hamilton, it was predictable.

Re: British F1 Grand Prix - Donnington

Hamilton won by over a minute. Its not unreasonable to have some attention drawn to it.

That has happened many times with very different drivers.
Today Kimi, for instance, lost over 50 seconds in no time to LH due to poor tyre choice, not because Hamilton drove an epic race.
rainy GPs are mostly like this; unpredictable, entertaining and usually more a display of strategic skills than of the respective drivers' abilities alone.

LH drove a good and solid race today, no doubt, and won.
Last two races he fracked it all up.
Personally I dont think he has the stability to win the championship, but it's F1; anything can happen.
