Good question...
Especially when you don't bother to remove obvious things like the red tape on the rear decklid... It really hardly adds any value. Well, I guess it sells to put the render on the front of a magazine.

If I recall correctly, we did have quite some discussion about the credibility of this particular image when it first came up. I don't recall the outcome anymore.
However, I did some quick and dirty photoshop (decreased contrast and increased brightness).
The following is quite evident:
- the model designation "911 Carrera 4S" is fake.
The level of detail of the source image is much higher (pixel size, level of noise) than the actual image of the car, the outlines are clearly artificial
- the license plate is fake
It is misaligned, and again the level of detail is higher. The transition between the actual image and the source of the number plate can be clearly seen on the RH side of the plate.
My guess; the model description is added to give it more credibility as being "real", the number plate is added to either hide the real plate or for the same reason as the model designation.
In the beginning I had my doubts about the weird interruption of the reflection of the overhead lighting on the right rear light cluster of the car, but it is in line with a break in the reflection in exactly the same spot on the left rear light cluster. My conclusion is that the image is real, the rear lights are real, the general shape of the rear bumper is real, but the model designation and license plate were photoshopped for whatever reason.
(Sorry for my crappy representation, I don't know how to draw circles and arrows in photoshop (
) so I copy/pasted it to powerpoint and then added those objects, then made a screenshot again... I know, I'm an amateur...

Concur and expressed doubt when it was originally posted and commented upon. The third brake looks like a return to the poor integration of the 1980s when Porsche used the war of the worlds pod and pram handle designs. The company has moved well beyond those days.

Guys, the photo of the yellow 992 is real, there has never been any doubt.
I know the (un)official back-story to this thing, the photo has been taken in a Scandinavian country during winter testing by a Porsche employee, she has been fired since! The person who posted the photo on social media (also a woman) had nothing to do with the photo, even if it seemed to be related to a local Porsche dealer in Germany.
I hope this clarifies things.

They met when they were in the supermarket and simultaneously wanted to pick up the same can of whipped cream from the shelf. Their hands touched and their eyes met... love was all in the air and after a passionate night involving said whipped cream, a bottle of champagne and a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace, the next morning they discovered their mutual love for Porsche cars. The rest... is history!

Maybe they were friends and lady #1 just wanted to share it with lady #2 . Lady #2 was the one that didn't use any common sense in regards to her friends job. Then again this is a hypothetical extra dramatic scenario that I'm making up in my head.

The first lady was related to the second lady but the second lady didn't get in trouble because she didn't take the photo, she wasn't a Porsche employee (apparently just some sort of trainee at a local dealer) and also didn't realize what happens if she posts this on social media.
